I've been looking at the WeBoost Reach OTR. I've also been reading some of the posts on this site and others. Watching Youtube videos on reviews of the WeBoost. Alot of times people are talking about using Data to get online to work. I haven't seen anyone talk about using the WeBoost to make calls. Is the WeBoost a good investment if you're working remotely and need Data?

But I'm not sure if these individuals are going to the same environment I usually go to. I'm usually in the middle of nowhere with mountains everywhere. I'm pretty sure that cell phone coverage needs a line of sight to grab the connection. So, if I'm in a valley and the cell phone tower is being blocked, I may not get connection. Someone in a thread was saying they live near Denver and it didn't work when they go into the mountains.

Anyone use the WeBoost and have luck with being in a environment with Mountains? I know there's times that there will not be a connection, no matter what. Just weighing what I should get. Because it's not cheap. LOL

Looking at the Garmin InReach 2. I know there's a subscription, but I'd mostly be using it for Emergencies. This is also not cheap. LOL.

Looking for reviews about each of these items worked for you. Thanks!

I don't know what set up you are using, but some peeps I know that are in Northern Ontario which is about as middle of nowhere as it gets has good luck with Starlink RV.

For the price of a drive OTR you might as well pony up for starlink. People are getting quite fast speeds.

if you YouTube Mav, he has a setup. Says he gets 300up and down which is insane.

WeBoost won't help when there isn't a signal, but it help when there's a patchy signal. I put one in my work pickup last winter while doing work on the dams in the Cascade Mountains. You could sometimes get a call out if you stood in a certain spot, balanced on one foot, and held your breath. With the WeBoost Fleet (I drilled an NMO antenna into the roof) I could easily make calls in my pickup and even in my trailer next to the truck, when it was still powered on. It worked good enough I'm considering one for my personal truck.

That said, if there's no signal, then you need a satellite option.
