About to run Two LED flood lights from my rear bumper to my AAC 6 Shooter switch in my engine bay.

When I ran my light bar and flood lights from my front bumper I used 14 gauge wire.

AAC is telling me to use 12 Guage instead.

I can't find 12 gauge 2 wire with a PVC jacket to protect the two wires from water/dirt. I can find 14 gauge. So I'm thinking of getting 12 gauge red/black wires and using a loom to run from the rear bumper to the engine bay.

Anyone know if any good loom or another shield/jacket to protect the red/black that'll be ran under the truck? Or know of a place where I can get the 12 gauge 2 wire with the pvc shield/jacket?

Here's an example of a 14 gauge with the shielding/jacket:

    Thanks!

I have used heavy duty outdoor rated extension cord before with great results. In fact that's what I have on my current truck. Mine is 10ga and I searched for it on Amazon. They have 12 ga also. I went with extension cord this time cuz it's easy and virtually bullet proof.

Have also used this type wire loom (see link - an the cheap plastic stuff wrapped in electrical tape also) in the past on a 4Runner and never had any issues. Protects well but it is not water proof.

+1 in agreement for heavy duty outdoor extension cord.

I have been using that for long runs on vehicles since I was in high school.

It's hard to find the 12g 2 wire with a black shield.

I never knew that a heavy duty extension cord could be used to wire lights until today....

It’s under the truck, give it a few months and the color sheathing won’t matter.

I put my wire in a piece of black split loom. Ran from the license plate to the engine compartment. Probably overkill.

Yeah was thinking same thing. A future project is to get a roof rack and add lights to that. So I was thinking black to try and hide the wires coming from up top

What size of loom did you use? Did you get a size that you could use later if you had to run more wires for lights?

I was thinking 1/2 inch loom....

    X2

I usually do that when I run any wires under hood or under truck.

I think it was 1/2”. I bought it a while ago when I was installing air lines and wires for my air bag compressor I mounted under the hood. I bought a couple of different sizes when I bought it and had plenty left over. I am thinking I bought 50 ft.
