I like what you're putting together. I've had a lot if plans, but little time. I have been wanting a rack for a RTT, but want it to be cab high. I drew it out, we plugged it into CAD, and attempted to bend the tubing up. There were a couple of issues; my buddy has a mandrel bender. He only has dies for 1.5 OD .065 wall tubing. I wanted 1.75 .095 wall, but it was way too expensive to buy the dies for my one project. I decided to give the 1.5 .065 stuff a try. We ended up having issues with the machine so I decided to go a different route.

I figured I would make the three cross bed hoops out of square since we could mitre them and then weld it up. I used 1.75 square .120 wall (yeah, it's heavy, but it was on hand). The supports between the "hoops" will be 1.5 OD .095 wall round.

All three finished except for the final grinding.image.jpg

looks good man. I went for the flush cab mount as well, but it ended up being just little higher by the time i got everything finished. Not a big deal since i still think it is out of the wind. I was pretty bummed out when i found out the ladder made the difference between parking under my garage, and not. i'm literally 1/4" too high now with the ladder installed. you're probably not going to regret the heavier tubing either. It'll weigh a few more pounds, but there is going to be no doubt on how it holds up. If you have any questions about the RTT measurements or anything, let me know.

Went extremely last minute camping (left after midnight). Didn't bring much (actually nothing).
Nice weather though, a bit cool but I had a blanket stashed in the RTTimage.jpgimage.jpg
    And tonight's new adventure...

Headed out to Death Valley for some camping this weekend. Got stuck going through a narrow rocky area on one of the trails. Saw my buddy's FJ and a rubicon make it, and pretty much knew I was going to get stuck. But that's why we have rock sliders, right?image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpg

What brand are your sliders? I need to get me some. I have to tread carefully to make sure my stuff doesn't get torn up

Brian Claunch at Street Tacos in Fallbrook, Ca made them. He does great work and they're stout. Just be prepared to wait a bit if you order. He makes them to order and he's a one guy show. I would also look at Demello off road. His sliders are stout as hell too and turnaround is fairly quick.

Starting to plan a two week hunt for Montana or Wyoming for November. Anyone know of any good areas? Thinking deer/elk combo. It seems like alot of people love mule deer and not whitetails, but I'm not picky.
