So my wife started a garden last year, so so results... Our lettuce went to seed... oh well.....
This year those seeds germinated, she picked the first big boy Romaine Lettuce...

So I introduced the head to a couple of friends ...

Thus dinner was created.... Damn I love a good peppery Caesar.. That lettuce was killer tasty!

Did my first beer can chicken on the Traeger today. Traeger all purpose rub. Traeget Hickory pellets. Did some asparagus on it too. Light olive oil with Meat Church Voodoo Rub on it.

    Came out pretty good.

Tour of Germany? I have no idea what either of those are, but they look like macaroni and a country friend chicken!

Pretty much - after two years there, I fell in love with German food. It's basically a thin fried chicken (I made it thicker) and the Spaetzle is a like a dumpling noodle. They are really easy to make and taste great with or without gravy.

I don’t know why, but I always thought shniztle was some kind of bread?
The mustard cream sauce sounds really good, probably on anything.

I got in a drawn out battle with somebody who was a food snob. I said Schnitzel was the same as chicken fried. Look up the definition, I am right.

It was pretty good on the chicken. I think Schnitzel means breaded. I guess I could look it up.

Just looked it up. Schnitzel means a thin slice of meat.

There was a little Kaserne across the town from our base in Germany and a German man ran an eatery there. We'd go about once a week and he had the best schnitzel with pomme fritz or spaetzle and gravy. Some times it was chicken, sometimes it was pork. It was always amazing.

I thought about it and I believe that Chicken Fried Steak originated with the German settlers in Texas who based it on schnitzel. So you are kinda right.

If you've never had good authentic schnitzel, you should go get some right now.

@TaquitoBandito I'm guessing you had rouladen when you were over there too.

My mom is German (dad was AF stationed there when they got married) and my absolute, favorite dish she makes is rouladen. Meaty, tasty, goodness!!

She usually serves it with dumplings and red cabbage.

Made 4 slabs today at work for a retirement party. Started at 430, smoke for 4, wrapped with butter honey brown sugar and apple cider for 2 hours, then set glaze for 30 mins. Did a chili pepper soy ginger sauce, homemade Carolina mustard and kinders Cali gold.9F379A73-7C2A-4E57-842A-EF5A1B5CF5A1.jpg

Love it - my Senior year in high school had a German exchange student who I was good friends with. When I went to Germany, it turned out he was only about an hour away. I'd go out and stay with his family (he still lived with his parents and grandmother) a lot and his grandmother would make the most amazing dishes.

Not the prettiest pics but they were good. Also, we do own an actual table but I can't see the tv from it so we usually eat at the kitchen bar.
