I'm in the same boat you are. Coming up on my 10K service (though did change the oil at 5K after engine break-in). I'm sifting through Yelp reviews and Google reviews of dealers from Salinas to San Francisco (and East Bay also) for service/maintenance experiences, good or bad....and there's not a lot of good, but you gotta take online reviews with a grain of salt. Hoping some other forum members can chime in with actual personal experience...

Based on those reviews, it seems like a lot of dealers struggle today with delivering quality work and timely completion of basic maintenance tasks. Not sure if that's because more cars are coming into dealers for maintenance/repair, they don't have enough service techs, can't find techs with the right skills, or ??? I bought my Tundra new off the lot in Sept 2021 at (then) Piercey Toyota in Milpitas which seemed fairly well-regarded for vehicle service. Dealer changed ownership in November and the Yelp and Google reviews for service have dropped through the floor... for whatever that is worth.

Still searching around, but have seen several recent good reviews for San Francisco Toyota. Not perfect, but per Yelp/Google reviews, they seem to be the best in the general SF Bay Area. It's like a 1hr15min minute drive for me to get there though. Would love to hear from anyone with firsthand experience of *any* Bay Area dealer's service department. I'm closer to Gilroy, so finding something good closer to the South Bay region would be really cool.

Also in the bay and live in a place where I can't do work on my own, so will give my also very subjective experience. I'm in south bay, so the dealers I have had experience before with are Sunnyvale, Stevens Creek, and Piercey. I've been going to Sunnyvale since I bought the truck (purchased out of state).

Sunnyvale - Slow (e.g. 3 hours for an oil change), building is being remodeled so its cramped, but otherwise decent experience. Service advisors seem to be nice enough and I haven't seen anything questionable done to my truck. I've seen them actually use torque wrenches to check lug nut torque and I always immediately after picking up, check oil levels, any damage, missing covers, etc in the parking lot and it has been fine for my last 3 services. This is also one of the few dealers in the Bay that do not do markups on new cars (except Supra I presume).

Stevens Creek - Huge crush of people, seems busier than Sunnyvale. Very disorganized, particularly in the area just to drop your vehicle off. I also got much worse attitudes from service advisors and as a result decided that I would not use them for my Tundra.

Piercey - To be honest, I never used them for service because when I was shopping for a Tundra the experience was so bad. This was in May 2021, just when prices were starting to get crazy. They had a $10K markup on a $55K 1794 that had a couple hundred miles and was very dirty inside. Sales manager kept beating around the bush with valuing my trade, finding discounts, and I ended up burning 3 hours before they would even give me a price sheet.

Don’t go to Sunnyvale for anything.

I buy parts from Stevens Creek, that’s it.

I had my 2 years done at Piercey. Never had any problems. Never had some fool try to upsell me something that was not needed and never had any issues. It was easy to schedule appointments.

You get what you pay for. Buy the tools to do it yourself.

I bought the tools, and do my own maintenance but it still annoyed me that I couldn’t trust a dealer to do my two “free” oil changes.

SF bay area, east bay or San Jose.

I have read many horrific stories and it makes me to think DIY is the way to go for oil change. How about recalls or check? We do need a trust dealer.

Gotta say sf Toyota has been treating me good, new service manager at city toy is terrible. Two friends went to sf also and had good experiences

Walnut Creek Toyota has done a good job w/ my truck. Always give me a ride home or even offer a rental for free if your truck is going through warranty or recall work.
