Lots of complaints and posts concerning the issues with the remote start....I have already paid for the factory remote when I purchased the TRD PRO so I'll not spend more money on an aftermarket add on. I spoke with my dealer and he told me that the remote was included in the "PRO" package...yes, I know that but Toyota didn't just throw that option in for kicks...I still paid for it. He also told me that there won't be a service bulletin or recall put out until Toyota can identify and fix the problem. He gave me an example of one of his customers had some issues (don't know what), with their wheels. The dealership couldn't or wouldn't do anything about them nor would Gulf States Toyota so he contacted Toyota Corporate Customer Service concerning the wheels and they issued him a check for $1,500.00 to replace the wheels. So my original question is how much the remote actually costs? I asked if I bought a truck that didn't come with the remote how much would it cost to ad it? He said he would have to research that and get back to me. He did tell me that if he couldn't help me with the intermittent starting problem he would give me the "800" number to contact Toyota directly.

my 2020 TRD pro has remote start from the FOB, just push the lock button 3 times. Yes I used to have it on the Toyota ap but when that service expired couldn't justify needing it when I can start the truck from inside the house with the FOB.

That's my problem...my remote only works sometimes. Even the dealer and two salesmen couldn't figure it out...I think Toyota should send me a check for a few hundred bucks or however much the factory remote costs since they can't find a "fix." I'm not holding my breath, that's just wishful thinking. I would though much rather have them correct the factory remote.

My remote start works only if I do the three clicks perfectly. For example if I don’t wait long enough between clicks 2-3 then it won’t work. Kind of weird

ah got it, it would be nice if they would just allow use of the app.

Think I’m keeping the app after trial period because it is basically is a LoJack system if your truck gets stolen, No?

I have the factory remote start on my truck, no issues here. Works very well at the advertised range of 80 feet and have gotten it to work closer to 100 feet. I work for Toyota, so I paid about $500. I would expect to pay between $500-$750. My only complaint is that you have to restart the truck once you unlock it, in theory putting twice the wear on the starter. Didn’t want a fancy system, like that it was designed to work with the truck and has a warranty.

Won't say I solved the problem but I did find the answer to the remote intermittent start issue....
I hit the "lock" button twice and hold it on the third time and I do it just about as fast as the lights on the truck blink. On that third "hold down" it takes about 4-5 seconds for the truck to start.
Works at 5" and 150'. Temp is 68 degrees so we'll see how it does in the cold. Supposed to get down into the thirties this week.
Hope everybody else has the same results as I did.
