What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

it must be telescopic, I'll take it off and see what the deal is. I am worried about others who have done this job and not know of this problem and maybe bolted the shaft on with not enough clearance over bolt holding the shaft on.

 

I'm always reminded when its dinner time! haven't seen them all day now its hassle big time!

 

Ok I took it off it's telescopic, bolted up the joint and banged it out again.
beware all who have done this job, the shaft could of changed in length and left you with not enough room to make a stable connection on the steering flexjoint.

 

I'm still baffled. The only issue I had was lining mine back up. Being off even one spline will f*ck up your steering wheel and drive you nuts. I'm studying your pics trying to remember what I did.

So look at this diagram, part #2 is telescopic, meaning its actually two shafts that slide in one another.
If you hammer on the end of that shaft it will shorten it.

so the way around this, when reassembling is to bolt part # 3 first, then tap it down onto joint until it seats against the steering rack and then tighten part # 4.

I don’t have adjustable coilovers on. I put on Rancho 2.5 quicklifts and stacked a 1 inch spacer on top to level out the rake from the add a leaf
Diff drop kit!! I have it installed, but I still feel like it’s at a bad angle for the cvs.

 

It’s not what you think, my friend! My suspension feels way better than stock. All the lift is in the coilovers. It feels sturdy, yet soft as hell at the same time. Coilover lifts are the way to go.

The Alcan Aal looks sick. Doesn’t that add like 3 inches of lift since it’s two leafs, right?

 

So today I got to figure out what overloaded is...

50 bags of mulch, 2 cubic feet per bag of, 50 lbs each bag.... nowhere can I find a store that lists weight....Red Flag there!
6 bags of lava rock 3 cubic feet 29 lbs each bag....
2 bags Peat Moss 6 cubic feet 60 lbs each bag....

So 2794 lbs of stuff........ so that's what, 1294 lbs over????

H'mmm she drove sluggishly, but she made it just fine. I'll never make this mistake again...
Who knew friggin mulch was 50 lbs a bag..... After I got home I looked it up...

Haha here’s the heaviest for me…probably way outside what was supposed to be in there. Told the wife I had to drive slow or my project tiles might become….projectiles

500 feet of tile was my heaviest haul but shopping ranches in Eastern Or this week so have a feeling ill at least get to try and top it soon

Was…. Sold that house. Did a lot of work to fix it up and sold it for mucho profit. Backed up to a golf course. It was a boring old folks neighborhood though.

 

I don't know how much my heavy load was. I filled my bed almost entirely with sand by hand, one shovel at a time. I would have filled the whole bed but I had a 48x20" tool bax bolted down. I rode the bump stops for 3 miles to my brothers house to unload it, one shovel at a time.

 

Double jelly. Arkansas was a means to an end. I had no idea some of it was beautiful.

I hate to flaunt my wealth like this but I picked up $10,000 worth of lumber today.

I been getting a little vibration from my front tires. I started looking into it and read about wheel hub centering rings which my aftermarket wheels don't have. I figured what the hell. Ordered up some aluminum rings and wrestled my front tires off to install them today. Well I'll be damned. No more vibration. Noice!

Now to continue saving pennies to replace the saggy leaf springs. Well one anyway but I believe I should replace both. My passenger side fender is 1.5-ish inches closer to the top of my tire than the driver side and that's with 3/4 of liquid gold in the tank.

 

it came with silver starfishies on it. Picked these 16x8 Eagle 589’s for $100 at an off road shop. Had em sandblasted and powdercoated for $160. That was in 20 and naught six. Chrome free since 2013. That is a sexy FGT though.
