Had +2 and went with +1 had to mill the brace down still rubbed , afraid if I went any
Further it would get to the threads

 

I was actually thinking about and RAS until those pics lol

 

Damn this sucks. Guess I'm going to stick with stock shackles since I want the ras more. I'll just crank the ras more for the extra half inch lift.

 

So are you still using these?

 

I,m confused so the +1 rubbed not the +2? Im waiting for the +2. Will take a while before they come in but once installed, I post pics.

 

No, just the RAS ,

 

Those braces can be moved. The brace is bolted on. I bet one can drill holes a bit higher and move the brace higher up. I will contact Coachbuilder and inquire about this. The brace is just to prevent side to side movement that the OEM shackles have. Im aware that the brace itself is square and the square part needs to be machined out for a perfect fit. In any case, one would not expect to have to play around with a product one paid 300$ for. How much would you think the brace needs to move up to clear the hanger of the RAS?

How thick is the metal of that ras eyelet top? I can't imagine why it would rub.

Think those are +3 but ya, shouldn't matter since they are just taller above the center brace. Maybe Bradleybb had an install issue....

 

I was originally running the +2 fit perfect , changed to the +1 they would not fit ,compared +1 and 2 side by side
The brace on +1 was lower 1/2”best I remember , milled down installed ran with them about 3k,decided to get rid of
Truck took off +1 and discovered they had been making contact with the RAS bracket , if any one purchase +2 measure from bottom edge of brace to bottom, picture of of my +1 , install is one way no adjustments, ,I probably could run with them this way but I got what I needed out of the RAS

 

Thanks, were you using stock leaf springs? What was your total lift with these +1s included?

 

Stock leafs DC , RAS set white spacer +1 had 1.25 lift , +2 had 1.75,measurements taken center of wheel cap to edge of bed
If you get the + 2 CB check measurement against the one I posted

 

I have to stick with the +1 or nothing at all. I am only looking for about 1.75" lift at the most since my 5160's are only rated to 1.5" total lift. I really want the RAS so i may have to forgo the shackles completely if the +1 wont fit.

 

No they don't.

I'm running 5100s in the rear with the 3" lift (@BOSS4x4s shackles @ 2" and the RAS adding one more inch). Not a problem...

 

Do you offroad or have extended bump stops?

 

The lift concerns with shocks have to do with full droop shock length. The lift provided by a 1 inch block, or the shackle for example will make the lower shock mount 1 inch further down on full droop. The lift provided by RAS does not do that, it doesn’t change the available suspension travel, it just changes the static load on the leaf spring. Am i thinking correct?

 

The ras still raises the bed of the truck away from the axle, so it would effect the extension of the piston of the shock going up.

Correct, but an extended bump stop is not necessary since the travel downwards hasn't been increased. Bump stops only assist when the suspension is traveling downwards.

 

thats the position of the piston at ride height. Which also is changed by a load in the bed. When you raise the back of the truck into the air with wheel off the ground, i cant imagine an RAS truck extending any different than a non ras truck.

 

True but a bump stop would still help since a jarring hit with the truck bed higher will translate to a harder bottom out, plus, imo the stock bumps are trash.

 

Hence the reason why I run Sumo Spings.

 

Yeah, im going to be installing Durobumps when i do the install.

 

I talked to David at Coachbuilder and he said he worked with the engineers at RAS to ensure that their products work together, so I am not sure what the issue was in this case, but David seems to think something was not adjusted correctly.

 

This is weird, but my RAS looks different than your guys' RAS. My back "hook" came from below and would never have been any issue with CB shackles..... It gave me 1" lift with a dime shim. A nickel or a quarter gap would achieve more lift. FYI, they do not sag over time.

 

You have a 2nd Gen, David had to recheck with RAS when 2.5 came out so I am assuming it changed for whatever reason for the 2.5 gen.

 

So Coachbuilders work with the RAS available now. Im not worried of the shocks. I have Eibachs that are for 0-1” lift but my truck is most of the year loaded plus the tongue weight of the trailer. I drive only in winter with empty bed and i can back the RAS down in that case. Does an extra inch really affect the shocks that much when you are 90% of time loaded ?

 

Installed this weekend.... HD tundra Kit....I set it using the black disc, why...I don't know......guess I wanted the max it would do
