First off I want to thank everyone in this thread!! Amazing amount of information.

I also wanted to link to how I ended up retaining the factory usb port on my 2010 Sequoia. I didn't bother with the aux portion as I doubt I will ever use it. I also didn't do any trimming of the factory usb port as was done in the link.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...input-on-tacoma-aftermarket-head-unit.103041/

I recently installed the Vivid PX6 Unit (2010 Sequoia with factory jbl and nav) and it's pretty great but I am still fumbling through the backup camera which brings me to the meat of my post.

The supplied harness did not include the cam vin rca which has been a real pain to try and relay to the seller with the time zone difference. It looks like I am going to have to pull the unit out to get a photo of the harness which just sucks since I don't have a heated garage.

In the attached photo, can anyone identify the wires that are not plugged in? The brown arrows are from the Toyota harness and the red arrow is from the Dasaita harness (supposed to be cb005-1)

    1. I think is related to satellite radio.

    2. Potentially for the rear entertainment system.

    3. Potentially for the rear entertainment system.

    4. Reversing detection which won't be used in this case I think

Downloaded the zip and plugged it into the USB port, but the unit didn't pick up on the software. Do I only need the .zip placed on a FAT32 drive? I also removed the "." from "10.0" in case that was throwing the extension off, but that didn't seem to work. Also, not sure if this should plug into where usb for CarPlay goes into, or the secondary USB? I tried both but I guess that didn't work either, although I did see that a USB drive was recognized.

You need to extract the zip file you downloaded, inside that file there will be an update.zip which you place on your flash drive. It's a step that isn't listed on their website.

I was able to update through the carplay usb which I believe is the OTG port.

Can you update over WiFi, or do you have to download and update over usb?

    Update over USB.
Personally only ever got one update through wifi but was minor and to Scout itself rather than a full firmware update.

Turns out I had the correct harness I just missed it during the install, I think I thought Vin was supposed to be an input rather than an output to the HA. Still no love on the rear camera though. Hopefully it's just a setting that needs to be tweeked.

I wanted to mount my aftermarket head unit microphone in the factory location so I designed this part to be 3d printed. I removed the aftermarket mic from it's housing and placed it within this bracket then placed the bracket in the factory location. The hole for the mic ended up being slightly small but a little heat from a lighter allowed it slide in.

This was for a 2010 Toyota Seqoiua

Have the Dasaita 10” model and cannot get the steering wheel phone buttons to work while in CarPlay. Anyone else have any luck with this feature?

If you go into the zlink app without having carplay active, there are settings and within that you can map your controls.

Odd, all my wheel controls function normal even the call and hang up. I left all my controls at default after selecting my can bus setting which the pic right below the vid in that post I linked showed, but you can always assign the buttons to their functions, I think the video in that post also showed that too

Thanks! This helped me be able to hang up the line which is better than nothing. Will try to rewatch the video and see if I can tighten things up a bit. Appreciate the help!

Jumped on the Dasaita train! I went with the 13” screen and still trying to learn the radio.

I’m using CarPlay with my iPhone and do have some question. I started scrolling but 65 pages is time consuming.

I was wondering how/if there is a way to customize my screen like some of you guys have.

Also, is there a way to get rid of the “S” icon on the bottom left of the screen

You have to use a launcher to get full customization, unfortunately Scout doesn't seem to play well with launchers. You'd have to swap the firmware to the Max firmware since that one seem to be the one that works best with launchers.

There's no way to get rid of the S icon in Scout 1.0 firmware which is what your unit is on. You have to update the unit to Scout 2.0 firmware that to be able turn off the annoying Scout icon.

I’ve been stalking this thread off & on. I tried searching so forgive me if I’ve missed it but does anyone have a 2020+ preferably a 2021 with the 13.3” unit installed.? I’m non JBL with the amp under the passenger seat. I’m really thinking of pulling the trigger but the hoops you have to jump through is the only thing holding me back.

I want to make sure that I’ll still have audio to my rear speakers, backup cam will still work, same as steering wheel controls etc etc

Hello I own a 2014 tundra limited non jbl and am switching over to Dasaita from tesla unit and had a couple questions
    1. I'm guessing it doesn't come set up for xm radio which is ok because i have an xm receiver which i was never able to hook up as aux in my tesla unit (first gen tesla unit). I currently have to tune my radio to an FM channel to receive the xm signal is this going to be the same with the Dasaita ?
    2. I also have my Tesla unit running thru my switch pros panel (tapped into the power wire) so i can switch the stereo on and off from inside my topper . is this possible with this unit also ?

What’s the best way to order this. Looks like straight from dasaita website comes with all that I need. How’s the shipping directly from them?

I can get it quicker from Amazon but it would be the scout unit. Then I’d still have to buy the canbus from dasaita website anyways

If you have the proper CANBUS, it should be fine. I'd message the seller on Amazon; Iris is usually more helpful than Nicole but either of them should be able to fulfill sales inquiries. The install itself wasn't bad at all, definitely plug and play with the canbus harnesses. Just make sure to get the Scosche adapter/mount if you're going with the 13.3 unit.

I ordered the 13.3 from Amazon, which to my knowledge is the more "general" unit. I tried the 9" unit and that did come with everything, but it wasn't a perfect fit and I didn't like how the unit only stayed in via clips. The 13.3 unit is definitely much better, and when paired with the scosche hardware it's definitely more secure in the truck. I did have to spend a little extra for the CANBUS, but wasn't too bad.

There also weren't TOO many hoops to jump through; pretty much all of my hoops were more software related than hardware. Updating to Scout 2.0 recently definitely alleviated some issues I was having with the steering wheel controls as well.

2016 Platinum with JBL. I still cannot get the rear camera working at all. Front camera picks up as the rear camera though..... Also for some reason the vivid store is all chinese and I cannot change it??? I can see that it comes up as an error Everything else seems to work ok. The Wifi from iPhone hotspot seems to need to restart all the time, and for some reason the home wifi continues to come up as wrong password, even though it is not..... When things are all working though, this is an awesome unit!! Any thoughts on the issues that I am having??

Thanks for the reply. I ended up ordering the 13.3 & CB047 canbus directly from dasaitas website. I did some more digging & it seems like all I have to do is connect the amp wire in the harness before install. That way it’ll trigger my amp under the seat & fire up the front/rear door speakers. All the other tweeters/center speaker are controlled by the unit. Looking forward to a painless install hopefully. I’ll hopefully report back with pictures rather than questions haha

I didn’t buy the scosche bracket yet because they had an option for a black one from the website. Do I need to order the scosche in advance?

How is your front camera connected? I don't believe Toyota ever had any factory front camera for gen 2.5, so I'm guessing you were utilizing some kind of FRAC harness before you installed it. If so, are you still utilizing the FRAC harness? If you disconnected the FRAC harness, then from what I remember you just have to connect the RCA for the front camera to the correct connector. There were 2 if memory serves me right, so if the front is picking up as the rear, maybe try switching to the other video connector?

The dash kit that it looks like it comes with looks to be the same as what came with the 9" - it didn't mount 100% flush and there were no side brackets to mount the radio securely. I think I've read somewhere in this thread that you can re-use your old brackets, but you'd have to drill an extra hole. You can try that route if you don't want to spend the extra money, but I know I'm always terrible with measuring where to drill holes so I just got the scosche dash kit. It's on prime one day delivery, and Amazon has a pretty generous return policy, so if I were you I'd probably order a day or two before the HU comes in and just hang onto it as a "just-in-case". If after install you decide not to use it, just return it.

I used the schorche. Used the original toyota brackets to mount the 13.3 head unit. I used the scorche facia only, clipping it into the dash where the JBL had been. The fascia is the window dressing to tidy things up.

There's a connector in the harness that will link up the OEM usb port to the HU. I haven't tried the AUX port, but it should be the same connection. I've used this usb port to both update the unit to new scout software, as well as linking to my phone for carplay. I haven't tried to actually play movies off of a portable ssd, but since I was able to update the software with USB, I don't see why it can't play movies so long as you're using a suitable format such as mp4.
