FINALLY! Black Out Kit for Adults.

Was just pointed in this direction. The shift trim ring isn’t too tough. I did snap off one of the welds so I glued the whole thing. Probably better that way anyhow. I like the ajt stuff but it looks so difficult to clean all the bolt heads. The console is already enough of a pain in the ass to keep clean.

 

Ha! The dremel works really great for that, I do the same thing.

Just got mines installed today also. I too added a bit of dab of plastic epoxy just for some added sense of security and stay, plus I will not be swapping it back out or selling the truck anyways.

 

Installed kit today. Think I'm going to leave the silver piece, ties into the rest of the interior. Roll with for a while. Vent rings done with AJT. I swapped my black shifter from my 4Runner too. Uuuhh...those finger prints

Painting complete! Only broke minor things! Honestly though I totally wrecked the silver piece around the shifter. Everyone on this thread was talking like they just routinely pop it out. Maybe they meant the whole piece? For me the silver piece was fused to the tray piece below. I’m talking about the light silver now the chrome thing inside the shift track. I’ve ordered a new one so I’ll compare and see if I got a weird one that was welded or if I just misunderstood y’all.

 

Looks great. What did you use to paint? Especially the steering wheel emblem

I love mine. Used some JB weld plastic epoxy for the shift gate.

 

Got my Meso vent rings installed finally this afternoon. Really happy with the results. AJT for the climate rings, everything else from Meso. 6 seater saved me from needing the other kit

 

Still no video yet on both the vents and shifter gate.

 

And what holds the new pieces in place? They just snap in or?

 

From my experience it does somewhat snap on as long as you don't trim too hard. I trimmed a little more than necessary without knowing and ended up having to use some jb weld epoxy. Works well though.

 

installed. Had the AJT trim already so just popped in the two. While I had the center console off I hit it with a good clean and coat of VRP from chemical guys. Also applied some to the MESO parts and it made them match a bit better. Easy install.

 

God dammit. What shifter is that? This is bullshit... I'm going to go broke.

 

I'm thinking it's the Teton or AJT shifter.

Was the process for the chrome climate rings the same as the 4x4? I just realized those were chrome after I just put everything away.

Its teton works. You can get a different color accents. Nicest one out there IMO

Posted this in another thread I'll share it here too. I put a matte finish on the shiny black indicator panel that the shift gate attaches to while I had everything apart. Super happy with how it came out.

 

I kept the AJT insert, and have the MESO one still if anyone wants it.

 

@Pillslinger did you have to tape off the shift positions when you did this or just hit the entire panel with the matte finish? Ordered a Meso kit which will be here next week but really like you knocked the sheen off the indicator panel to match the flat black look of the center console.
