I'll try to find the thread but I thought someone else on here 3D printed one that worked well for them.

Thank you gentlemen for the print file. I don’t have a printer.

If anyone is willing to print one of these parts for me I will gladly pay you.

I plan on replacing the shifter and cup holder surrounds with the black AJT inserts, so I am hoping to match the 3 switch panel to those.

I don’t know much about the printers or carbon fiber. Does carbon fiber always print out in that checkered pattern or is that done for aesthetics?

Yeah if someone with a 3D printer can print these I would be down for 1 as well.

I think @Rocfrog is getting back to printing, or is pretty close. I'll try to check his FB page and see what the latest is.

I checked with him before I posted this and he is not ready to start printing. I was hoping that I would find someone that has one that they decided not to use.

Printed carbon fiber and woven carbon fiber are different.
The "checkered pattern" is from carbon fiber that is woven and cured with resin into a shape (like fiberglass, only the carbon is extremely strong in the long axis of the fiber, and by weaving the fibers in different directions you get strength along each axis).
    upload_2021-8-25_16-16-34.jpg

Printed carbon fiber is a polymer (plastic) base material with short pieces of carbon fiber embedded in it. When 3D printed, the strands do offer some added strength over regular FDM printed materials like ABS or PLA, but not to the degree that woven carbon fiber does. It can also be a bit of a pain to print because sometimes the fibers can make the print have a rougher surface or even a "hairy" look (which can be remedied by some wet sanding and other steps).

And both of these should not be confused with the fake plastic "carbon fiber" that is typically used for overlay pieces, which is really just a pattern printed on ABS plastic and covered with a glossy clear coat.

Thank you for the explanation. You’ll notice several “likes” from me recently, which started out as me searching your posts to verify whether your credit card slot is the same as mine. It turned into hey this Casey guy just spent more of my money haha! Your truck is looking prime and your upgrades are too.

Post up a file to Shapeways and you can get them to quote that STL in a variety of materials.
Use PETG or ABS for the hot interior of a car.

    https://www.shapeways.com/

I am able to print them, but don't want to make a business of it and also am not interested in spending a bunch of time bundling hardware or sanding/prepping/painting these things for people.

All the Gen 3 "credit card" slots are the same...except the Platinum and (maybe?) 1794, which don't have one there.

Correct 1794 does not have this slot it's just leather. If anyone wants I can print them for you just PM me and we'll work out the details. These will be PETG (same stuff as water bottles) so they won't warp and distort in the heat. I won't sand or prep them but I will print them for you and you can clean it up, paint it, bedazzle it .. whatever :)

I am looking for the switch insert for the credit card slot as well; happy to pay someone for it since I don’t have the printer. Looking to relocate my window switch.

Printing one today out of PLA for testing. Unfortunately I can't test this myself as the 1794's & Platinum's don't have that opening so I'll need a guinea pig to test (I'm sure it'll work fine). I used the file from @RainMan_PNW but my slicer had an issue with the top missing for some reason .. luckily was able to fix it up and looks like we're good.

If you want to test this out let me know. Price will be $25.00 shipped to CONUS and currently these will be black PETG as that's what I have. If someone wants a different color for some reason, let me know and we'll work it out.

Thanks! Looks like you're close so we won't have to wait a week for USPS to deliver so hopefully we can get this tested out mid-week and be ready to make these for others.

Adam - that’s really cool of you. Odd the top was missing - must be the difference in software (I use Cura with my Ultimaker S3).
I’d make two recommendations for tweaks based on my personal experience:
    1. Scale up to 101% for PETG. This will ensure a perfect fit on the switch blanks, because PETG seems to shrink a touch more than PLA
    2. Upsize the through holes to a full 1/8” (or 4mm). This eliminates the need of the end user to have to either drill out the hole or have to tap the hole for M3 screws. If the hole is opened up to 1/8”, then an M3x20mm long socket head cap screw will go through from the top and then a nut and star washer underneath to lock it in place.
Other than that, mines been working great!

Thanks appreciate the help! I was planning on 101% since there's a tiny bit of shrinkage (hehe) with PETG. For now open the hole to 1/8" with the drill press since I'd need the original cad file to change the hole.

PS: Yes the top/bottom missing was odd. I'm using Simplify3d and it's been great. The object looked fine but when I sliced it the top & bottom layers and some infill were missing. Ran your file through an online STL fixer and all seems to be good. Other odd thing is I downloaded Cura and it looked fine there after slicing.
