It's worth it. It's the amp research step pretty sure. Super sturdy but install way easier if you chop existing bracket instead of replacing it.

After buying my Tundra the Amp Research bed step was my first addition. No other way for me to get into the bed. I looked like a seal trying to jump up there on my belly. I use it every time I get in the bed.

Last year I had a hail storm damage my roof. The insurance claim adjuster showed up to look at my truck and had to get in the bed. He was at least the 300lb weight limit and it handled it just fine.

Everyone saying it’s worth it - are these stock height trucks or lifted?

BAM Wholesale is way cheaper than ANY Toyota sale at the moment. Shipping cost is way less too and they are a OEM supplier.

Absolutely love mine, it's a must have!!! Here are some pictures when I did the install! Only difficult part is getting out the old bumper support and there is 2 bolts under the plastic bumper cover. Takes a little patience but well worth it!!

Does this seem to be far superior than the steps attached to the hitch? I just got a 2017 1794 and somewhere in my attic I have a fold out hitch step I got for my dogs several years ago but they wouldn’t use it. I’ll have to dig it out and see how it works with a Tundra hitch.

The problem with the hitch ones is that you cant use them when the tailgate is down, and thats when you need it most of the time.

Where did you get that bumper bracket plate thing? That looks like a much better upgraded version than the one i got in the kit. I just ended up angle grinding the stock one so I didnt have to take anything apart, but that one looks way better.

Ordered it directly off Amazon and it came from AMP I believe. You take off the stock bumper brace and install the new one they give you.

I watched a u-tube video showing you can cut a notch in the OEM bracket and avoid having to take out. Looked easy and you were not compromising the bracket strength.

I wouldn't consider myself old, probably "older" and I still haven't found a good way to get in the bed.

asked about this in another post, does that step cut out into the bumpers that are for some after market and other makers factory not stable or deep enough to utilize, this was one example I found and was pondering

    https://bulkenoffroad.com/2014-2021-toyota-tundra-rear-step-bumper/

seemed to kill 2 birds with one bumper, add the step and transition to an all metal powder coated bumper

I've considered aftermarket bumpers like that one but the one gripe I have is none of them have been reliable with BSM. The Bed Step seemed to be a decent compromise. The only issue I have is I wish Amp Research would create one for the other side of the bumper. Would be nice to be able to choose sides.

Also nice to be climbing around on the opposite side of moving traffic in many situations.

for me i'm still fairly spry for 50 to the point I have zero need for the drivers side handle getting in and out of my Tundra and it's mildly lifted with the step bar so i'm definitely looking for something not quite as big as that pull down step just honestly being new to trucks and a TUndra was like HOLY SH)(*)* when I saw/noticed the embedded step in the bumper on a truck while at a red light the other day and was like GENIUS !

Mine is with a 12” lift. I want to eventually get an off-road bumper, but I still need something that lowers.

Only good if you want to drill lots of holes in your tailgate. Then there is also that issue of sliding things in with the a bracket mounted on the tailgate.
