Just picked up 2016 platinum that has oem remote start. So my question is can I add a fortin remote start to the truck so I don't have to deal with the dumb shut off when you open the door? I have a 20016 limited that has fortin that I want to pull off and put in the platinum. Do I have to remove the OEM system or can i just add on the aftermarket? And if it has to be removed does anyone have any info on how to remove the factory one?

I can't answer all of your questions but I can say the aftermarket remote start that I put in my 2021 Sport shuts off. I researched it quite a bit and was under the impression it would not but it does. If you find one that guarantees not to shut off get it because the install is really easy.

Yeah so I have the fortin already and I did the install on my 2016 limited doesn't shut off when you open the door. But I want to pull the system from the limited and put it into another truck that has OEM remote start but not sure if I have to pull the OEM parts our first or if I can add it on.

Only reason I'm asking and doing all this is my limited was 2wd and had to move up north from FL for work so I picked up a platinum 4wd and swapping all my aftermarket parts over then selling the limited. Probably sound crazy but I liked my limited to much to start over and seems alot cheaper then buying everything again when I can just remove and replace.

And if OEM has to come out does anyone have a good reference for install that I can just read backwards for removal.

Previous owner put one on mine I guess. If I hit the lock button 3 times on the stock fob it'll start the truck. Doesn't shut off when I unlock and open the door either. Does shut off if I push the brake pedal before inserting the key however.
