I recently had ankle surgery and have not been able to drive my truck for over 2 months. I knew the battery would be dead but when I hooked up my CTEK charger to it the taillights started flashing and the alarm started going off. I think the reason why is because I had to use the physical key to open the door to pop the hood and when I tried to use the Fob to deactivate the alarm the battery did not have enough juice yet for the key fob receiver. Has this happened to anybody else? Any way I can turn off the alarm besides the key fob? Thanks

Does putting the key in the ignition and trying to start the truck shut it off? What year?

Also until you get if off, you can unplug the horns to kill the noise at least.

disconnect the battery cables. Leave them disconnected. Charge the battery, once changed, reinstall the cables.

As mentioned above, I would disconnect battery, charge, and reconnect…I’ve never seen that happen before but that should get ya squared away!

I've never let the batteries in my vehicles go completely dead. If I'm going to be away for any length of time, I leave a small trickle charger hooked to the batteries. Even have one hooked to my lawn mower over the winter.

The easiest way to destroy a lead acid battery is to let it sit in a deep state of discharge. Even if you can recover it you've suffered a permanent penalty to capacity.

My truck has been sitting at the dealership for 2 months.
I know the battery is dead because it won't connect to my drone mobile app.
Good thing the battery is under Interstate warranty..

It's a Northstar AGM, they claim it can be discharged to 10% over 400 times before causing any long term damage.

    Oh no an AGM. :eek2:
Should have had that CTEK trickle charging if you weren't going to be using the truck for a few days/weeks.

It's a widely discussed issue on the forum with AGMs that they need to be topped off monthly..

My Batteries Plus PowerX2 (allegedly a Northstar) died twice when it was new.
They refused to honor the warranty.
I traded it in on a core charge for an Interstate..:D

Did they state how long it can sit at 10%? Because that's where the damage is done... time.

    Oh noes.....

Based on your post I got concerned, so I checked on my truck battery.
CRAP...Just found two lumps on my battery
Tested them, one came back positive.
    I hope it's not terminal.
