Good Evening Tundra gang. I’ve got a 2021 SR5 with about 1800 miles, for the past month it has had a mild burning smell right after start up. I kept thinking some part/piece that gets hot had some oil on it , or some sort of coating was burning off since the truck is still fairly low mile . Could not find anything, until tonight . Right near the fuel rail(I think) , above the valve covers were a bunch of chunks of semi rigid foam….and acorn husks . Found plenty of chew marks on the foam around the engine bay . The flexible grabber tool with the light on the end allowed me to get most of it . Used compressed air to clear what I couldn’t get to. I guess the rodents have good taste in vehicles . Anyone have success with rodent spray in or around the engine bay ?

Do some research and put wire mesh in your fresh air intake openings ....and check your cabin air filter.

They started chewing on mine as well awhile back. Get a spray bottle and mix up some peppermint oil and water, give a good blast to the foam and other areas under the hood, worked for me. Good luck.

Check all of your wiring harnesses really good. They love that soy based wiring.

@Tundra234 i checked as much as i could see. They hit a Dodge Ram at work several times. They don’t seem to care for the Fords.

I know Honda makes a tape that is rodent proof that you can wrap your harnesses with. Definitely try the peppermint oil. There is a full thread with info. Let me see if I can find it.

    Too many, but not enough....
Honda rodent tape, basically duct tape slathered in Tabasco sauce
