I feel it every two weeks and sometime before April. Ouch.

Spent the entire day making 3rd gen Tacoma DIR.

I did do one thing for my FGT. Scraped the lone remaining sticker from the PO and used goo gone to remove residue from that and the giant LEER decal on the shell window.

Also installed my toll roads sticker and confirmed I have Toyota branded glass still. Pretty sure the windshield has never been replaced which is nice, though it’s not pristine.

Looking forward to more truck time in the future once I get out of this DIR hole.

When I go to the dealer on Tuesday, I plan to seek an antenna nut and an OEM tow harness. Any other goodies I ought to hunt for while I’m there?

Were there any bolts you needed anywhere? And, how are you going to get that antenna nut on that rusted up base? It's crappy plastic.

College try? Also if I fail I will buy the assembly you suggested and then attempt to bleach bath and paint the spare chrome ring black.

I tried to take that plastic nut off without the right tool and cracked it right away. I didn't know it was plastic at the time. Mine is sitting there looking lame to me, no one else sees it. But, I'll eventually fix it...

I should add that I'm comfortable with the Fumoto valve because I have an aftermarket skid plate that covers it. Some people had concerns about road debris flying up and ripping the valve off. They do make one that doesn't stick down far though.

I'm running the short version with no skid plate. No issues in 4+ years.

Wrapped a skid plate in wet boxes and a ton of tape to check shipping cost. Someone on here did a great job of posting about dealer sales, got the right side belt weatherstrip. I think I saved near $100 on that.

Replaced and alternator in the Double Cab.

I got home from the sandbox early last month and was told it would not shift out of park, went down and found that the arm that the shift cable moves was sized to the transmission. A little disassembly, wire brush, and lube solved that for free. It even has a new shift cable from the previous owner.
    IMG_20211215_113856016.jpg

So I start is up, see the charge light is on, and find out it needs an alternator....Father in law orders a Chinese on off Big Girl for me for some reason, so it's in. See how long it lasts!
    IMG_20220101_152710433.jpg

Since I've not posted in a while, recap: I deployed to the middle east for most of 2021, while gone my wife bought an 04 Double Cab for 6k that need a bit before it can get inspected. I'm going to do the work to get it inspected, in the course of which I'll decide if I sell it at a profit or keep it for myself.

Drove it from MA to NH after getting the alternator in, parked it next to Jade, the 03.
    IMG_20220101_082300283.jpg

Oh yeah, T belt has about 60k on it. Pulled the cover to check. Looked good to me.

The bumper is a work in progress, but my wife keeps asking me if I’m wiring lights. I guess I am. To frame the fogs, a fair amount of center cut off. But, I don’t really want them in front of the plate, so we will see.

Amen and hell yes, I concur.

Possibly me, if you ordered from Serra Toyota of Decatur AL. I bought two of the same for my truck to keep on-hand because I have a sneaky suspicion they're about to be discontinued. I don't need (yet) but ...

Welcome back, and a genuine thanks for your service.

Love the stance and look of your new DC. What size and model of tires are those, and do you have any specs on what the previous owner did suspension-wise? Overall reminds me a lot of @abcinv 's truck

So I either have a wheel bearing issue or a tire balance issue? I never drive above……..55, but this weekend’s adventures required more. It’s definitely a wa wah sound that happens 45-75ish, it’s there when I’m on the throttle or off, in a corner or straight, might be a tad louder when I had the boat hooked up?
I guess I’ll start with getting the tires rotated and balanced. 44E1A90D-E3F2-4D79-B9F9-C72CEE04F679.jpg27E9DE68-86C4-4A9D-8FF6-7024350D940E.jpgD9EF96B5-0453-4067-8FDB-81FADE07D8D9.jpg88A9E083-687D-42B1-8BCE-C4FEB828649E.jpg

Thanks, I like the look too. The tires are 275/70 17 General Grabber ATX; I know the ‘Book of PHM’ says that 285 it the perfect size for our trucks but……the suspension is completely stock. I believe the shocks are the originals at 165K, the bushings sure look like they have been on there for 18 Years.

I think it was you, @shifty` or at least you got me searching better. I also remember the discussion about may no longer be available sometime soon. I would love spares, but even on sale the DC ones are gnarly cost. Thank you :)

BFF is still the best function and looks if you move away from stock IMO. I love mine but haven't finished it because I'm deciding how to mod it. I would not be doing that with a brute force.

It just feels so much stronger than I am. And so edgey on an otherwise very curvaceous truck. That’s where I get cold feet. But a bended / curved steel bumper isn’t going to magically surface in the next few years, it’d be crazy expensive and silly to build something like that.

I don’t love how much the front is exposed but I guess extra approach angle isn’t the worst thing in the world.

I’m coming to terms with it.

Initial symptoms smack of wheel bearing to me, but you know what they say about opinions....
