For the VIM switch, do you have to mount that switch? Could one simply just permanently connect the wires together, hide the wires and not mount the switch? Any harm in doing this?

That is correct, just connect the wires together and hide it behind the dash somewhere

Thank you. Switch space is already limited and I didn’t want to drill somewhere.

Welp, I finished mine today. Took me most of the day but I was taking my time. I tied off the VIM switch and hid it, I extended the camera switch cables about 3' and ran the switch over to the arm rest. This required me having to solder the wires on to the switch sideways due to limited space behind the switch. I used this camera on the hopes the 720 AHD signal would work with our head unit but it does not (I had to tie off the purple wire to use the CVBS signal). Mounted the camera directly below the emblem and I think its the perfect view, I'll try to post some pictures tomorrow. Thanks for your help everyone this is an extremely useful mod.

Glad to hear you had a successful installation. I worked hard to try to make it as simple as possible. So it still brings a smile to my face to hear about another completed mod. Looking forward to the Pictures!

I saw your order notification. Thanks for the order! Your FRAC Harness build should start tomorrow. Today's build schedule is full.

I highly recommend the Natika camera due to it's "bang for the buck", quality, adaptability, and customer service. There are plenty of choices out there though, so you should have no problem finding something to meet your needs.

Has Anyone figured out how to get the FRAC harness to work with older (07-13) Tundras yet?

Awesome thread and product. I just joined up, and this thread isn’t making me regret not waiting on the new hybrid with PVM and picking up an off lease 19 Double Cab instead. I’ll order this to install with my 8-channel DSP system and sub upgrade.

Just ordered before reading the first post. I have a platinum and no open spots for the oem switch. Can you swap mine for an additional round switch? Thank you!

I have a 1794. The glass breakage sensor works just as well pushed behind the trim. I did that and used the free spot for my FRAC switch.

I know a few guys that have done that. It's a great option for the 1794 and permits use of the OEM Style switch.

I'd love to get your kit over the ABC version. Will you ship to Canada? Site won't let me, but I looks like the kit would easily fit in a USPS small package...

Just installed mine this morning; no F, so you could say I have a nice RAC.

I used the new rocker switch option, and didnt use the VIM; such an amazingly simple install!

Ugg, I missed the sale.Just saw the new OEM switch so awesome. It would be a cool idea to have a bed camera or figure a way to add some to your mirrors and activate when the blinker was on. So many mods to do.

It's not about the shipping, it's about all those GST, HST, VAT, and all the other taxes... I want to make sure I collect and remit the proper amounts, and I haven't figured out how to do that yet. Still more studying to do on that front. So for now, no sales outside of the U.S.

@TundraTex this is not the camera you recommend on your FRAC website. Did you decide on a different camera for yourself, and if so, why this one? Or did you end up liking the Natikas better?

I’m definitely buying a FRAC. Just trying to figure out my install design, especially where I’m going to put the switches. And looking for an OEM style toggle switch for the VIM function to use alongside the OEM style switch you include for the camera selector. Once I figure out my plan (probably tomorrow), I’ll put in the order. Your insights on cameras would help.

    Thanks! :)

The reason I started recommending the Natika is because Toyota add the TSS and made the logo solid. So the logo Camera was no longer an option. That said, my iNewCow logo cam has been installed since 2017 and is still going strong. So that would be an option for guys with an open logo.

That makes sense. Funny though, I didn't even realize Toyota solidified the logo. I was thinking I'd be inserting the camera into the middle as I've seen on so many photos and videos. So where are people choosing to mount the camera if the center logo isn't open?

Happy I have seen this before I ordered, I have a platinum so I can just keep the sensor connected loose behind the trim and it work? Can anyone tell me if it rattles or anything?

The "sensor" is actually a microphone I believe. You might be able to disconnect it from the bezel to make it easier to tuck away. Either way, you should be able to zip tie it to another harness or section of the dash mount structure to keep it from rattling around.

Fun new use for the FRAC....checking tension on tow straps when you're extricating someone from the median, and allowing enough slack once theyre out to disconnect everything.
