    Hi all,

    I just bought 5 Falken Wildpeak AT3W LT235/80R17 Load E's for my 2007 Toyota Sequoia (1st gen).

These pizza cutters / skinnies are about 32x9 -- almost 1.5" taller and 1.5" narrower than the stock size. I'm very happy with the tire choice & everything fit perfectly on stock suspension with no rub or cutting, and even the spare tire fits perfectly underneath with more vertical clearance than the stock 265s.

    Now for the bad news....

I just noticed that the date codes on at least 3 of the tires are about 17 months old. I haven't checked the spare but I'm assuming it's also the old date.
    WMDV2121 - May 24, 2021 (China)
    WMDV3020 - July 20, 2020 (Thailand)
    WMDV3020 - July 20, 2020 (Thailand)
    WMDV3020 - July 20, 2020 (Thailand)
    Spare (Date/Country unknown)

The Falken warranty shows coverage period "within six years of date of production (for 2021 produced and newer)." I only drive ~4,000 miles/yr so I'm concerned about the 1-1/2 year loss of warranty time on these tires.

I put 33 miles on the tires since I had them installed yesterday at America's Tire (aka Discount Tire).

Hoping Falken support or someone on the forum has some experience or advice on whether I should try to exchange these for a fresher set or if it's fine or not worth the hassle.

    Thanks in advance!

    Ben

That's roughly 350 miles a month or a tank of gas a month. I'd say you'll know if the tires are good to go or not by your first year with them. And still under warranty. If you're that concerned, exchange them. Just about everyone on this forum is a Falken fan if not from direct experience, certainly they know someone with a positive experience. You should be fine.

    Hello Ben,

We will honor our 6 year manufacturer warranty from date of purchase as well, though this is informal. So if there are any manufacturer related issues like separations or dry rotting that occurs, say late 2026, we'll still be able to prorate the tires based on your purchase date of 12/8/2021.

You have every right to exercise the 30 day trial period on the tires, with your return reason being "old tires." The 30 day trail period allows any type of return (smell, ride, noise, traction, etc). However, it only covers the tire cost, so by getting another set, you'll be paying for another round of labor & taxes.

I didn't want to unnecessarily create hassle & cost (for either side) so I'm glad I asked & got the reassurance I was hoping to get.

Thanks to PermaFrostTRD & Falken for the quick replies!

[EDIT]: Would you recommend a different tire pressure from the factory recommended 32psi (F/R)? (With standard weight -- no mods)

Since you are running a non-OE tire size, please provide your OE tire size so I can get a baseline. I'm assuming the OE pressure is 32 all around?

OE size is 265/65/17. Yes, 32psi front & rear.

OE size supported 2260 lbs per tire. To get that same load capacity, you'll inflate your LT235/80R17 to 50 PSI.

Actually I bought some +30 rims and sold my stock trail rims. That said, It looks like they may have worked. I know it would have been really close. I changed my plan mainly because I found some low profile flares that I really like and a little more width on the footprint is a good thing IMO. If you really want to try without a big cost, maybe throw down a deposit to borrow a used tire from a used shop, have it mounted and check it out. That is what I would have done had I not found these flares. 20211120_085609.jpg

+30 is probably what I’d go with too. How do they sit with the flares?

    Robert,

    I can't believe I missed this tread.

My wife's Lexus GX470 needed some tires about this time a couple of years ago. (12/23/2019) I was able to get some FN Wheels from Dustin and these AT3w tires at the same time. All I can say is that I am more than stoked on tire wear, performance, handling and looks!

These AT3w's are incredible and will continue to buy these awesome tires moving forward. The set I did purchase at Wally world for pretty darn cheap. I believe I got these for $120ish in 2019. And they were made in the U.S.A. (note: just below where the white "O" is on the tire. You can see "Made in U.S.A.)

    Are stickers still available?

Yw! Sits pretty good, very happy! Not poking out putting other vehicles and windshields at any increased risk. The flares provide about an extra 3/4", but they also make the wheel wells look "finished or complete". They also provide some door ding and shopping cart protection too.

Late to the party but I have 2 sets of Falken Wildpeak A/T3W on order for Wednesday install.

Stock wheels with 3in front lift and SPC UCA's.
    Stock 275/55R20 (32x10.8R20) Yoko craplander AT's.

    Ordered 275/60R20 (33x10.8R20)
    And 275/65R20 (34x10.8R20)

Hoping the 65R20's will clear my UCA, if not I'll go with the 60R20 until I decide to waste money on wheels just to get a reasonable offset. (Thanks Toyota)

    I'm super excited!

I do wish these did not look so much like Nitto Terra Grapplers.
I had those on my 98 4runner, road great, lasted all of 20k miles.
Regular driving in northern VA with winter snow and ice, and several trips on the beach aired down in the OBX NC.
Overall poor product overpriced and waste of money.
That was like 8 years ago to be fair.

Based on what I have seen and read, I have high expectations for these Falkens on my Tundra, hope I'm not disappointed like I was with the Nitto's
$1300 installed is a lot of money for some tires.

Can you provide your OE tire size and tire pressure so I can get a baseline for the new tire size? We'll be adjusted based on load capacity.

This is true and I have many years ago came out and said we are walking down a bad path.
If something every broke out between us and them, there is no one in this country who makes bicycle tires, no one.
Somehow, when world scale wars happen, the world goes back in time a little with major utilities and things getting blown to hell.
We should always have the capability to produce / manufacture everything we need without assistance from any country.
