Whenever I get an interior to pop in the truck I’ll get photos.. for 05-06 at least it’s just one wire and a fuse tap that you need

It's not glorious or proper, but I'll be darned if it doesn't work.

Now that I've done it, I don't think Gen 1 owners have lived until they have pulled the bed. This is crazy talk for Gen 2+, but damn, what a rear suspension and frame insight. Note: not for DIY with custom paint jobs.....

Hows the top of the fuel tank/ particularly where bed meets cab? That's where all the crap tends to end up & start it rusting.

How many people or what device did you use to lift the bed. I was in need of doing that today just to get at the rear shock bolts with a breaker bar.

Very nice up there, considering it's my first look. I haven't been in the conditions with this truck to cause rust or bad debris. But it's all getting cleaned of course.

The boy helped me for a hot second to get a 2X4 to another height. The rest was all me. Honestly, 3 more guys would have saved me a lot of time. I have a hard time asking for help. I recommend - unbolt, detach brake lights and fuel filler, have a place to go and three other guys to get there. I'll put it back that way. But, I felt like a boss driving out from under it.

I should add, if it's just shock bolt clearance, you can do that by yourself. Just blocks between the frame and bed. But, If you are replacing, cut those fuckers out.

Man, those archive garage leaf springs and flipped u-bolts are really nice!

Got the rest of the Torch add-a-leaf in. Got the shims in. Got the new u-bolts in and torqued. Drove it around the block a couple of times. Will check torque tomorrow after 10 miles or so.

I bought this $15 cupholder cell phone mount from Amazon and modified it so it would mount to the space where the coin holder normally is (only on 2WDs). Only the top part was used, not the part that goes in the cup holder. I mounted it to a scrap piece of 1/4" Delrin that I cut into a round disc, but it could have also been plywood or something else.

Replaced my steering rack and tie rods with brand new OEM replacements direct from Toyota. Also installed poly bushings in the new rack.

    Play in the old rack

I did the whole ‘powerwash your seatbelt so it’ll retract like new’ deal, and it made zero difference. I have not yet hit it with silicone spray, so I’ll try that tomorrow before I give up on it.
Oh yea,…. I also DIY’d truck bed coating
