    Appreciate everyone's help ij figuring out what sheels wpuld work on my Tundra, as the wheels/tires it came with were in rough shape but given it's a once every other weekend vehicle for me I didn't want to buy a new set of tires I'd barely use. Looking story short I got these really cheap and the wheels looked ok enough and the tires were in really good shape and only 2018 dated.

    The finish on all four rims was pretty well done and one was caked pretty heavily with brake dust (frozen caliper on truck it came off I'm sure). So I figured how hard could it be to just clean them up and respray them?.....ya....it was a lot more work than I anticipated.

    This is my first crack at doing this, and I definitely errored in starting with varying grits of sandpaper. Then switched to a wire wheel, which may have been the wrong more as well as I definitely added a few deep scratches that I figured I could sand out or the 'high build' primer would account for....spoiler.....it didn't.

    Before and after pics below. Kind of annoyed with all the work I did at how they came out but the end goal was to prevent them from oxidizing worse and I'm pretty sure I solved that, just annoyed how the finish came out. Think I probably should have taken all of the rims down to bare metal 100%, rather than just taking down the parts flaking and trying to smooth out what remained.

    TLDR - Cleaned up a new to me set of wheels; sanded, wire brushed, sanded, primered, painted, cleared....finished product is maybe a 5.5/10.

    Edit: Center caps got sprayed too just didn't make the pics and I should have covered the rest of the tires apparently, hoping the over spray wears off.

    Looks good, day and night. Be a hell of a lot of work to get them perfect, don't worry about it. They look good. Tires will self clean I imagine. They did with rattle can paint I used a long time ago.

    Appreciate that, just annoyed that after all the time I spent they look pretty terrible up close. But I guess it's whatever, not like the rest of the truck looks perfect anyway. Spent $350 for the wheels and tires, maybe $50 on sandpaper, paint and wire wheels. Now I just need to get them balanced after I get the truck back from having a timing belt done, as I ended up sanding off a few weights by accident so I figured I'd just pull them all off and get them rebalanced.

    I think they look amazing considering what you started with. 10 foot rule will only increase their beauty. Once the center caps are on and the tires are cleaned up and shined, step back and you'll be happy I bet.

    Appreciate the love. I'm a bit of an unreasonable perfectionist with things like this (something where I've no reason to be a perfectionist based on my experience and skill...or lack there of), so I'm still a bit annoyed they didn't come out as well as I wanted but they'll do the job so I'll get over it.

    A week in the shop to get a bunch done (timing belt, headlight issue that turned out to be a bad combo switch and a bad section of the plow iso box....balance the wheels and fix the broken window motor/regulator) and I've got a I work on scrubbing off the overspray I didn't think I had to worry about and to bend/cut the fender well plastic/bumper plastic lip cause it's rubbing a tiny bit with the bigger tires.

    But it looks better than it did, apparently whatever trash lugs they had on there aren't going to do under the center caps, any idea where I can get a set of factory lugs for cheap?

    Hadn't considered that, but that seems like a lot of work and finding something to prop the truck up after you take the lugs (and presumably wheels off)

    Most of them already have the vehicle in the air. Or call the local wreckers and ask for a set for a 1st gen Tundra or Sequoia.

    Fair point but looks like I got lucky and the ones I had on there actually fit, forgot they didn't need to fit under just on the side kinda. Taking it as a win.

    Are your aftermarket lugs the correct style for the stock wheel you're running?
    Should be similarish to this.

    Just wouldn't want your studs to break off or something stupid from wrong style lug nut due to improper load.

    Not a good idea. Use mag style lugs for OEM wheels, otherwise they won't stay tight.

    If they're aftermarket lugs with the cone shape (45 degree angle) you shouldn't drive it until you get proper lugs. IMO.

    Short wheel studs, deep shank lug nuts help.

    They'd been on the truck with the wheels it came with for some part of the 260k it had on it when I got it, and they're like hexagon cylinders in terms of shape. Guess I'll grab some replacements eventually but the shop put them back on and said nothing about it so I'm thinking they're ok. (Pic of wheels that were on it for reference)

    Stupid question, door tag shows 26/35psi for front and rear wheels but this came with 16s and the new wheels are 17s. Should I use the same psi?

    Up to you what you want to run. Those are pressures they recommend. The higher rear pressure is with the bed loaded or when towing iirc.

    I run more like 36-42 front and 26-32 rear when unloaded, depending on conditions (lower pressures when rainy/cold).

    So when it's not loaded you go opposite the door tag? (High in the front / low in the back)

    Is this just common knowledge? Honestly never heard of doing this. I know to air down at the track after a few hot laps... But this is a lot different
