RSI Smart Cap

How do you like your Bed Rug? I had one in my Superduty but it didn’t have the integrated tail gate cover. Any issues with the “hump” over the tailgate gap?

 

I like my bed rug a lot! So nice climbing in and out which I do a lot of. Easy on knees, and even acoustically helpful I think! It just Velcro’s in so I’ve pulled it out to give it a good vacuum for sand. I’m quite comfortable in there.

 

Hi all, just joined today. So I am looking into getting the smartcap. I really like the contour of the cap to cab on the crew max, but on the double cab it does not look like the contour matches as well? Are they going to fix this?

 

I’m happy with mine. Happy to do a FaceTime and give you a walk around. Double cab 2021 pro.

That would be fine. Wow, I’m surprised about back order. I got mine in 2 shipping days but at was 3 months ago. PM me your number. I’m working on truck now prepping for fishing trip so most times today tomorrow are fine.

 

Ya, I talked to them yesterday and they are stretched thin since they hit the states. Only one plant in South Africa but they are working on opening one in Texas. Plus he said the double cabs aren’t as popular as the crew max. I need the 6 1/2’ bed those 5’5 are rough.

 

Totally agree. I think I got lucky early on because there was lighter demand for DC toppers. I’m thrilled to have one. Just wired truck bed with two panels and an extra 50 amp fuse box.

 

That’s a clean looking switch panel! My question to the rep was with the metal roof with no carpet lining have you noticed condensation drips while sleeping in there?

Hello all. Does anyone know if Front Runner anchor points are compatible with SmartCap load bars? Or if there are other aftermarket anchor points that I can easily install on the load bars? I just need anchor points for bungees, etc. thanks!!

I have one of these on pre-order. Supposed to be in next month. They are super solid and look good on certain trucks, but I’m starting to have second thoughts with regards to the fitment. Time is running out for me to bail if that’s what I choose to do, but a better fitting fiberglass shell that I want, is going to cost just as much. I hate when I’m indecisive on something this expensive haha. Someone talk me off the cliff!

 

It’s a preference. It does not fit like a fiberglass cap. I didn’t like the pics but in person it works. I wouldn’t trade mine for a fiberglass and I’ve had both. The durability and functionality is unmatched

 

Thank you sir! I needed that…I don’t know why my brain won’t move past the gaps on the tops around the bed. What I do know is, time to sit and dwell is my enemy. If they had it in stock when I ordered it 6 weeks ago, I’d already have it installed and be loving it I’m sure. It really helps seeing yours since my truck is Superwhite. Thanks again!

My installer was able to use the existing bed rails, so maybe they updated the brackets.

I remember seeing one with a roll up door style roof back when they were in concept. Can’t find it online anymore. Wish they would make it.

Do you mind disclosing where you purchased yours and what date it was ordered?

 

I ordered from my local Cap/Topper shop "Jordan Camper". I placed the order in March 2021 and initially they thought it would arrive in late April but then kept getting delayed. At one point they said I was in the top 10 on the backlog across the country, so it seems it was just blocked/no shipments for a while. I finally got it mid October.

 

I was just curious because a new member that just signed up on here ordered his from an online vendor (same vendor as me) in June, and I ordered mine on August 20th. Mine is being delivered tomorrow and his still hasn’t shipped. This doesn’t sit well with either of us, as he should have clearly had his order filled before mine. Sucks to hear these big companies don’t have better order filling policies, and they are placing all the blame on RSI. The owner of the online distributor told this other person there was nothing they could do to help him. Needless to say, neither myself, or this other person will be buying from this particular vendor again.

Sorry to hear your experience. I will say RSI back order fulfillment is ridiculous. As a dealer we have to hustle hard and sometimes eat extra freight costs to meet our customers deadlines or leave items on "backorder" for sometimes a completely undetermined amount of time. We attempt to actually stock them at our storefront and ship from our store where online retailers will try to drop ship from RSI which becomes problematic.

 

Thanks for starting the thread and the picture! I’ve had one on order for 6 weeks now, an Evo Sport. Can’t wait for it to come in!

 

That is crazy. The backorders on overseas products is ridiculous, but it should be sent per the order queue. Waiting 5 months already on a winch and just told another 6-8 weeks.

 

Teaser, since it was dark after I got home with it…I’m pumped and already love it!

 

Overall pretty happy with it, had some shipping damage that I’m working with the vendor on…but I do love the look and feel of this thing in person. Talk about bulletproof construction, wow!
