Anybody got the fix for Fox coil overs handy? I figure I’ve got better chance finding them in stock than I do anything else. The sequoia is needing a set, and I don’t really figure I’ll find king or ads in stock anywhere. Ads would be preference though

I've got a friend with an NA drag beetle that carries the front wheels as far as he wants. It gets rebuilt instead of oil changes.
I guess the sliding scale of 'reliable' is the real determining factor in cost...with deference to the skill/experience subtable. :D
The beetle we ran around in in HS was very mild and generally reliable...in the regard that it always got us home. (Not always firing on 4cyl tho)

Agree to disagree, unless we're specifically talking about beetle engines. Even then, consider aircooled engines are all head-studded and oft more akin to radial engines than automotive engines. (architecture, not layout)
The Porsche 930 came with 100hp/L from the factory and can be coaxed into significantly more power without opening the engine at all. The subsequent 964 turbo and 993tt made even more hp/L.
The problem with FI and a beetle is packaging. The tight packaging constraints add additional challenges to dissipating/shedding all that heat. The pressure is NBD.

My xb9r toes the line with 92hp @ 984cc. 11:1 cr makes alot of heat. The 1200’s only put out 103hp.

wiki said the 930 made 300hp with 3300cc. And intercooled turbos help, but to a limit.

like you said, torn down and rebuilt, instead of oil changed and probably running on alcohol or methanol.

What do you think they could get out of this after an hour of heatsoak?(starts to sing just before 2:00)

This is where the beauty of modern technology can come in to play.
With coatings and materials and modern management, durability is significantly improved. I'd be hard-pressed to speculate about actual output decreases with heat soak. Too many variables to consider.
I can tell you if they convert that lil guy over to a 911 fan, it'll get much better at dissipating heat. The 11 blade fans move so much air. And being magnesium and not very wide, they don't cost too many horsetorques to keep spinning.

I’m not super sure. At one point I had the 5 digits memorized. I’m vaguely thinking 864 for last 3? I’ll check.

definitely not 864, hah. My memory does not work.

Hey if I ordered a set of kings I’ve found in stock for my wife’s sequoia, part # Code: 25001-138 will I be messing up? It’s to replace a spacer lift or should I go with part Code: 25001-138-EXT?

Depends on a lot of things. I from scratch if you go big like that with a 2275cc you're in the ballpark of $3k if you assemble it yourself, starts around $5k for a done turn key. Mine is estimated at 170 hp at the crank.

Of course, that doesn't include a clutch, a trans that can handle that, or brakes that can stop you. Add about an extra $2k for that.

I suppose if not a purist you could do the Subaru motor swap and have a 300hp monster thats totally reliable for 80k miles. Not sure what the cost would be there.

For the subie motor? That's a show stopper there for me. My bug causes cancer as is. It should come with one of those Surgeon General warning labels that California puts on everything.
