    Hey Casey

How are these working out? On long trips in my Tacoma, I get brutal pain in my hamstrings and lower back and thought about doing this. I know Tacoma's have brutal seats to beging with. Hopefully the seats in my tundra will be better.

I see that these are made of aluminum. l have a question about mixing aluminum and steel. I was under the impression that steel and aluminum will corrode when attached together. Any truth to that? Would also like to know because the side steps I want are aluminum but I don't want corrosion, especially here in Canada

If you have bare aluminum and bare steel, yes. But both the jackets and seat are finished so you shouldn't have any metal on metal contact.

So I should be okay to get aluminum side steps as well as long as both are coated?

Yes, make sure where they rub is coated well and bolted up securely. Its possible that the paint will wear where the steps contact the frame over time and then you might have issues but it should take some time.

Thank you. Would you add any type of spray to the areas that are going to rub?

@RainMan_PNW , sorry for minor thread jack

Mike, not knowing how they come to you. Its hard to say. As long as they are finished you should be good. You could put some clear 3m film at the interface as a buffer but its not required. Folks do this with fender flares since those tend to wiggle and without the film it wears their paint.

    All good guys!
I was completely off grid for a week, so no way to see or respond. Looks like Robert got your questions answered Mike - at least for the most part.

As for the question on how the seat jackers are working out - everyone's preferred seat position is a little different, but for me they have been great. I just got done with another ~800 miles (400 each way) this past week and we went over 4-1/2 hours in the first stretch without stopping at all and I didn't need to really do any "position shifting" the whole time.

Unintended rear drivers side bumper modification today, thanks to a sub-alpine fir and me being a little impatient trying to parallel park between alder brush alongside a trailhead today.

    :ohsnap: :itllbuffout:

I’m gonna have to dissect my bumper and determine if I need to buy new framework on the left side or can bend it back into shape. I’m kinda wanting aftermarket armor, but the options that will work with BSM are pretty slim. And expensive.
    DERP!

How are these Auxito’s and the front Auxito turn signal (7444) holding up? Was considering switching my bulbs to these if they seem to last versus the extra cost of VLED versions…tried scrolling through your build to see if you had any updates, but no luck. Sorry to read about you rear bumper in the woods-hope it’s not too costly to repair

    Still holding up great.

So I was able to use the Auxito LEDs in the taillights (lower red light and the white backup light) without issue. The turn signal LEDs hyper flash in my headlights…I did not try installing them with the resister/ballast piece. :( Did you need to use that on yours to work? Also, is there a replacement LED that you used for the upper bulb (turn signal) in the taillights?

    Rear turn signals required resistors.
The front turn signals I bought came with a set that weren’t needed up front, so I made up harnesses to install them without tapping the actual wires in the rear

Thanks—ended up using GTR Carbide 2 (GTR LED601: T15 Red) for the rear signals and had no rear hyper flash with just the bulb replacement. Ended up needing the resistors for the front Auxito LEDs…weird that your fronts didn’t need the resistor but your rears did and mine ended up being the opposite. Wanted to reply in case it helps someone else with similar experience. Glad to have all my exterior bulbs switched and working as LEDs; your build/recommendations were very helpful in getting this accomplished.

Yes, looking for something with a similar style and function that won't cut into the seat material over time. May source a piece of heavier hide at the top punched out for the head rest bars on mine if I go that route.
Now if they made make this model in black or with a lower price tag...

@RainMan_PNW thanks for all the links you shared. I bought the same turn signal connectors to make load resistor harnesses and the installation was much cleaner than cutting apart the factory wiring. Stuck them to the inside of the taillight with some 3M extreme double sided adhesive.

Was considering changing the resistors in the turn signal module, but it seems those resistor values were determined simply by trial and error so it made me question whether I wanted to do something I consider experimental. This method is a sure fire working solution and is very easily reversible. Thanks!

Question for you, how did you identify that connector type? I like using that method to make wiring changes to the truck vs cutting apart the original wiring.

Follow the link in my signature to the Wiring Diagram thread, and then start downloading and reading...
Every connector in the truck is indexed in there, but not every "mating" connector is in there so sometimes you've got to do a bit more digging/researching. But a lot of them can be found.

@RainMan_PNW - did you need load resistors for the front as well? I put the load resistors on the back, replaced with Sylvania Red LED 921 replacements and no hyper flash at all. I replaced the front signals with Sylvania Amber Zevo 7444 LED’s today and developed the hyper flash instantly. With my Tacoma, I didn’t need load resistors for the front and back, I only needed one per side. Is that what you experienced?

I did not need resistors up front. But, that is my specific experience with the specific bulbs that I bought (linked from the list in the first page).

    Thanks

I just found this out from the VLED site:
“We have 2 choices of VRES load resistors, 6 OHM and a 3 OHM. Which one do you use? The 6 OHM is the equivalent load of 1 bulb. So if you replace 1 set of bulbs (the front OR rear bulbs) you will need to install 2 resistors (one for each side). The 3 OHM is the equivalent load of 2 bulbs. If you replace your front AND rear bulbs (4 bulbs total) you can use use two 3 OHM resistors. Most customers install 3 OHM load resistors in the rear of vehicle as long as the front and rear bulbs are on the same circuit.”
    https://www.vleds.com/insider/post/led-load-resistors-may-need-vehicle

    Looks like I’ll need a 3ohm resistor.

    @RainMan_PNW I heard someone mention this on another post and it seems like you're quite the wiring guru with Tundras so I wanted to ask if you know how feasible this is with the Anytime camera system you bought (I'm interested in the same setup for 2021 SR5);

How possible and complex would it be to tap into the front parking sensor signal so if they started beeping your front camera would automatically come on so you can just look down to see what's going on?

PS- Your build thread is amazing and thank you for all the help you give to the community!
