Before my recent 2 weeks camping trip, I made 2 trips to scale to check my setup. I loaded truck and trailer, went to scale and was 400 lbs over GVWR. Went back home, dropped some things and rebalanced the cargo (mostly moved everything to the back of trailer), and was only 50 lbs over on GVWR. I could feel the difference on the drive between those two rides.
In both cases, I did 3 weighs - with WDH, without WDH and truck only.
I use Husky TS Centerline with 800-1200 lbs bars, truck has GVWR 7200 lbs and trailer weight came around 5750 lbs (max 6000 lbs with cargo). Tongue weight came 770 lbs.

The effect of engaged WDH was weight shift (I mean the difference between weighs with WDH and without WDH):
    steer axle .... +177 lbs
    drive axle .... -265 lbs
    trailer axle .. + 88 lbs

So the WDH works, but are those numbers ok, I mean is it reasonable effect of WDH? Or should it be more or less? Should I look for more tension on those bars? When WDH engaged the setup look pretty levelled, although I haven't measured it.
    Thanks.

Hard to tell with your given numbers. You've only told us what your wdh is doing but did3nt give us the baseline.

The purpose of the wdh is to get your steering and braking back, which requires weight put back on the front axle. Ultimately, get the front axle as close to the truck only baseline as possible and let the rear fall where it may

You're halfway on the distribution. Went from 90% without distribution to 95% distributed of original front axle weight.

    I'd throw more forward.

Also, if you find you have a hard time getting a good feel with the trailer connected, you can try the next step down in bar size. A lot of people seem to have a better ride when setup at the top end of softer bars than at the lower end of stronger.

ok, thanks. I will lift the brackets on camper frame to add more tension to bars. Will go camping in 3 weeks, so will stop at scale then.

You mentioned the trailer weight was 5750. Was this number the sum of axle(s) and tongue weight?

Edit: Nevermind. I read on and did the math. It's total.

lifting the brackets may not be the answer, as it will change how “flat” the ends of the bars ride on them. If your bars are currently nice and flat where they ride in the brackets, you’ll be better off to add another shim (1/2” USS washer) in the hitch to put more loading the bars.
