With whatever option you use, either one that mounts near the license plate or an integrated one into a new tailgate handle, there one thing I highly recommend you do. Invest a few more dollars on a high quality shielded RCA cable instead of using the thin ones that comes with most of the camera kits. I found out the hard way of isolating where the static on the display/camera was coming from and it was the RCA itself.

This the one I used on multiple vehicles and worked great: https://www.amazon.com/Mediabridge-...3&sr=1-2-ed8a42d3-65f1-4884-a3a2-0dd6e83b6876

I went with the Master Tailgater. I started at the tailgate and ran wires up to the HU. (Sony AXV1000.

I extended the power wire and ground wire so it was the same length as the RCA. Also add ran a reverse wire the same length to the HU.

Ran all 4 wires in 3/8 loom up the driver frame into the cab. There is a grommet behind the access cab door by the rear seat belt. Ran wire through jack compartment and up under passenger side hump under carpet.

I connected the red power to red ACC on HU, black on black HU. Connected the extra reverse wire I ran to the purple reverse wire on HU harness. Buttoned up the front and moved to the tail light. Connected the reverse wire to positive reverse in light.

When I select reverse the camera automatically comes on and switches off when put in drive or park. I can also select the icon for rear view camera on Sony HU and camera comes on anytime.

really easy install and love the camera and Sony AXV1000.
