Finally replaced the factory original battery in our 2014 4Runner. It didn't quit completely and never left us stranded, but it was getting pretty weak and not keeping a full charge if it sat undriven for a couple days.

Anyway, the nut on the battery terminals. I tried 10mm, too small. 11mm, too big. 3/8, too small. 7/16 too big. What freakin' wrench size do I need for this? Assume Tundra will have the same parts when the time comes. I used a crescent wrench, which was more bulky, awkward and less pleasant to use than a proper sized wrench (but at least I didn't have to resort to vise-grips! lol ).

Maybe this should go into the "What Makes You Angry" thread? I finally give in to Communism and buy metric wrenches, then run across this! :annoyed:

    Lmao... I think they're 10 or 12mm... I keep 3 sockets religiously within the cab... 10, 12 and 14 3 pairs for all 3 sizes...

You did the right thing by replacing the OEM battery ~ it's a philosophy I subscribe to as well.
Better to replace it now than be stranded later, in the middle of the night in the rain 50 miles out of town.

This, right here.... can't count the times I was stranded in the worst places with a dead battery... although I would take the night over the middle of the day in 100bullshit degrees and no shade...

My other half works as a nurse ~ gets called in at midnight for an emergency case in the Cath Lab. The last thing I want is for her to have a dead battery in the parking lot with God knows who looking for a victim.
Better to replace the battery early, trust me.
