You can't install just one. The storage container is one big piece. I had an EQ under the passenger rear that had to be relocated because the bins are built in.

Yea I meant I was going to use the template only and put some kind of cake pan in the hole or something.

I had similar thinking but I keep the car seat on the driver's side on the off chance I get a flat tire.

If you get the ESP Long box it has separate openings under the individual seats.

But worth it! It is heavy steel and lockable. I do wish Toyota would have included this as an option though. Or better yet, STANDARD! There was no reason to waste all that space!

Just to add on - rather than steel it's press brake and tig welded aluminum. Very sturdy and light. Yes it's dummy expensive. All these damn truck parts will drain you right quick.

Why not do the whole thing and just keep things under the car seat that you rarely if ever need? Even if you didn't use the spot, at some point, that kid will grow out of the car seat...maybe 3-5 years and you'll already have the space there for storage.

Just got around to doing this today and came out perfectly. Make sure you align and tape template in place. I used a heavy tip pencil to outline. Sheetrock knife to get through carpet and thin pad under. Then used a keyhole saw that worked quickly through the styrofoam. Once you cut the squares, cut the styrofoam down the middle at a 45 and it will lift right out. Trimmed left over carpet to size which took some back n forth. Took about an hour and a half with interruptions.

Looks awesome. I threw down the gauntlet here tonight and challenged one of my kids to get to 4'9" so I can ditch a car seat and do this, too.

I installed the lockable aluminum version about one month after I purchased my truck. It was early on when they were just starting to produce these units. I purchased my '14 but wished it had the '13 and older rear seat capability. They've worked out well, but if I could, I would switch to the long box I think I see more practicality in the longbox version.

I’m either going cheap diy or getting that long box.

    This.

I went with the one that has 3 compartments. Should have waited for the long box.

Had the 3 compartments with lockable lid. Used the carpet that was cut on the bottom as a sound/cushion on the bottom of the storage. Hope the 2022 Tundras have some sort of storage come from factory

I bought my 2016 Tundra used. It already had under-seat storage built-in when I bought it, so I assumed that was something Toyota did. But reading this post it sounds like the previous owner may have done this? What do you all think?

That's backwards of what I would expect. Since the CM is more expensive than a DC, you would think Toyota would put the factory storage on those models. Pay more = get more bells and whistles.

I did my 2021 crew and love it. Could have done it in 30 minutes but I was so scared of jacking up the center sensor I just kept whittling away until I got close enough to it to finally cut around it! 1 thing that some may want to consider is if you have floor mats that go under the seat you will need to cut them or get different ones. I cut mine along the top ridge of the rear seat area.

I saw the next 2022 Tundra crewmax comes with rear seat storage or hybrid uses them for storage if you get the I Force MAX

I would be buying one right now if I didn't have to car seat in the middle that makes getting to the storage a pain in the butt.

Just cut through the liner to fit. The seat will force it in place to help it settle
