so 18 city 26 high way on non hybrid from that 22 combined calculation on hybrid might see 30 city and 26 high way ... got it. the Tundra only uses electric till 18mph (as per Tundra release video)

    off 22 combined guess 22x2 44 , high way always high in non hybrid 18 + 26 = 44.
highway speed is set out of hybrid range going on 26 Hwy , 28 combined is 28 x 2=56 minus 26 Hwy is 30 city.

city is normally around 3/4s of Highway witch falls close to these numbers on the calculated guess of a educated speculation of that video.
hybrids are more efficient in the city than highway and having the already set 26 highway leaves 30 city witch from past rumors and speculations from Toyota the new Tundra was supposed to touch the 30mpg mark on the hybrid. thus shoring up more evidence to these numbers I listed.

I couldn't even keep the hybrid Accord in it's low speed electric only mode lol, talk about needing to feather a pedal. Only use the big toe.

Everything I’ve read has said the hybrid system is designed for more power and not efficiency.

Ford got ~1mpg when they went to the Ecoboost and six-speed tranny, another 1mpg when they replaced the steel with aluminum and yet another 1mpg with the 2nd gen EB and ten-speed. Of course, I can personally attest Ford’s numbers are BS but they know how to milk the EPA tests. This is for the truck that most people buy. Not the guy driving around flatland USA in a stripped 2x4 with the 2.7 EB and 3.15 rear posting a pic of the lie-o-meter claiming he’s getting 26mpg right at that instant. Don’t get me started about those asshats.

I don’t believe for a second the new Tundra will post MPGs that most are estimating. Maybe 18 city/24 highway at the absolute best. Physics is a law no one can break and I just don’t think the hybrid system will save that much gas.

Makes sense. A 3 mpg improvement from the current truck would put me at 21 mpg highway with the way I drive.

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
Hope the dude is right, but suspect he's pretty optimistic.

From what we know - Gas tank went from 38 gal to 32 gal so it is about 19% reduction. Toyota SHOULD keep the same distance per tank (or make it a little better - not worse). The 10 speed auto should help MPG with high speed while the low RPM torque should help MPG with low speed.

So, 18/23 for the TTV6 is at best and 17/22 is more realistic.

I think they're making a huge mistake making the PRO hybrid only. Many people don't want the loss of storage, and $$$ of repair of the system or replacement of the batteries.

Toyota hybrids have a 8-10 year warranty. Models newer than 2020, hybrid battery warranty is 10 years from the date of first use, or 150,000 miles.

Since the 2022 is a complete from the ground up redesign, I believe Toyota will lose credibility if the standard engine does not beat the F150 17 city 23 highway with their 3.5 ecoboost. As far as the hybrid version goes, the fact that that the engineering manager for the Tundra states that the primary goal of the hybrid was increased performance and not efficiency says a lot. Either that is the truth or it is a cover excuse that they will not beat the F150 hybrid numbers.

One thing to think about is that the F150 with the 2.7 and the payload package has a minimum payload of 1960 and a max payload of 2165 depending on whether you get an extended cab or a crewcab and a 10,100 pound tow rating. So if I am comparing truck models between the Tundra and the F150. I would be looking at the F150 2.7 with the payload package. You will not find these on a dealer's lot. I think the payload package is a custom order only, however it does exist if you are willing to custom order your F150. I am waiting for the Tundra pricing to be announced because I think Toyota will under cut Ford by about $4000 for trucks configured with similar payload and tow ratings. The Tundra will have lower payloads and higher tow ratings than an F150 model optioned to match it. This is an SR5 versus an XLT with 3.5 engines, extended cabs, with 6.5 beds. I also think that you will get about 1 mpg better with the Toyota engine than the Ford 3.5 Ecoboost.

press release with what is covered, as all components are not under the 10yr/150k warranty even on the 2020+ models.

or did i misread it? hybrid battery and system are considered 2 different parts?

They only raise the battery warranty, cause battery will age.

but wasnt that rating based on them deleting stuff to achieve it? or was that only for payload ratings? or am i completely off and thinking the wrong oem?

I thought that was only for payload. However, Ford tends to get their highway fuel economy numbers at 48 mph so I would expect Toyota to be closer to their advertised numbers in the real world than Ford is.

    Excellent information, You are right:

"Toyota announced it will extend its hybrid battery warranty from 8 years / 100,000 miles to 10 years from date of first use/150,000 miles, whichever comes first. This extension is valid for all new model year 2020 Toyota hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fuel cell electric vehicles. All other HV components will retain coverage under the Hybrid System Warranty at 8 years/100,000 miles, whichever comes first."

This part was really disappointing. I was hoping it would still be class leading. They didn't out-do Ford and its 36 gallon gas tank. It's important for towing because reducing the number of fill ups needed is critical.
