Good point an old guide is better than no guide. I’ll be able to find it in Amazon right?

99% certain that's where I got mine. Gaia and or ONX off road apps are great too. Seems everyone is using one or both of 'em.

I’ve come in from Packer Saddle side and drove up in my stock 04. Is the Sierra
City route the narrow exposed area? It’s been awhile but all I remember is deep deep water bars and whoops. I did have step welded on sliders /steps and none were ripped off.

I wish. I'm super busy with work RN, building a shop for my neighbor. I've been on a tractor digging for 2 weeks.

The trail is unbelievably easy. Just on a narrow shelf road and pretty high. It’s one of those you worry more about oncoming traffic than actually falling off.

For anyone wondering or wondered about Bodie Ghost Town OHV it’s a pretty long ride and SUPER easy. My cousin and I decided to finally do a trip to Bridgeport

We stayed Thursday night and hit the trail the next morning. Since we left Thursday early we actually found a really nice trail alongside Mono Lake. It was awesome! Best time I’ve ever had on a dirt road there is a small creek at the beginning which I managed myself to get stuck in (noob) but thankfully my cousin has a 4Runner and we tied the strap to the shackles (btw they got delivered a day before the trip imagine that). I hadn’t downloaded or paid for the OnX Off-road app but once I did I discovered so so many more trails in the area.

Bodie Ghost Town as mentioned before is super easy it was about a 2.5 hr (with a few stops for pictures and one super easy side trail to the abandoned mine) on the trail but to give a better picture of how easy it is my sister joined us the day of the trail run in her stock Mazda CX-5 all season tires on it.

I will say the trail itself has so many hills and lots of nature around. Also there is a bunch of cows so yeah good idea to watch out for them they like to chase the cars. The ghost town itself was really really cool lots of history (if you’re a history nerd like me you’ll love it) many abandoned buildings still standing and to the side a nice quiet picnic area but no shade or drinking water. The whole Bridgeport and surrounding towns appear to be off-road/ fishing/ camping area since Stanislaus National Forest is right next to the town. Overall I think it was a great first experience to get to know my car, mess with the settings a little bit, learn to not hesitate and haul ass but the best part try out the new DD system on my truck

Hope this helps anyone that thought about doing this place definitely seems like a 2-3day trip to enjoy and explore and be prepared. Next up is Hollister Hills for some more practice :D

Howdy fellas just got some practice done at Carnegie OHV but got LOTS of mud inside the engine bay. Any tips on how to clean this? I know I’ve got to remove the battery but someone suggested covering the alternator? If I’m not wrong that’s way under the engine right? Thanks in advance!

Haha! Here’s the last time I went to Carnegie.
    8C03F58B-7FB2-471B-9EEB-DAD504098331.jpg

I have no idea what’s the proper way to clean mud out of the engine bay. I just use the hose and mist it down and try to wipe off most of it with a towel. Then repeat a few times. It’s probably ok but I’m not comfortable spraying the crap out of the engine like I see others do. I’ve never removed the battery nor covered the alternator, but it’s probably not a bad idea. The worst part is, no matter how well you wash your truck, that dried up mud is going to keep falling off the truck for the next 2-3 years. Every damn time you get under the truck, dirt will get in your eyes.

Haha. We swerve around 1” puddles now. That mud hole was the first and last time I’ll ever feel my truck floating in water.

Ah man that looks gnarly. The mud on mine dried up pretty quick it was 100 at Livermore today! I think I’ll end up doing that instead seems like a much better and safer route. Oh and yes lol you are right about mud falling off I did a couple of donuts outside of the 4x4 play area (park ranger wasn’t happy ) and right after I left the park on the highway I would feel the big gunks falling off. Oh and I lost my license plate in the mud ha! I went back in but couldn’t find it will be ordering one soon.

Must have been awesome. It took multiple pressure washes to get most of the mud out from Prairie City last time. Don’t feel like going back.

B/w, who all are signed up for T2S this year? Any coordination to drive down together?

It's a paid trip but I think registration might be over. Ask Matt, I'm sure he'd love to have you come.

Howdy fellas just a quick question does anyone know where I can find someone that can do some electrical wiring on my pick up? Currently thinking of buying some VLEDS strip light bar for my side step area and need to find someone that’ll be able to make the lights turn on and off when doors close/open and when the truck unlocks like the puddle light.

Edit: Bay Area local would be great
