@Tundra2 just remember to slide some heat shrink on BEFORE you solder the wires together...

And keep the heat shrink far enough from the heat that it doesnt grab before your ready. Cause i dickered that on my rc crawler winch wiring. Then electrical taped it like a heathen.

So I'm about halfway torn down on the engine right now. Been following along with 1A-Auto video linked below.
    https://youtu.be/6TZTn1Arjho

Got to the part where the AC compressor bolts come out, and needed extensions. Decided it was a good time to update, and take a break.

Looks like the wires are chewed up on that sensor just behind the driver side timing belt cover. I think PHM had something similar happen. Thankfully, it's the sensor wires, and not the actual wiring harness wires. According to the video, it's the crank position sensor.

Fan bracket studs came out with the nuts. Though that was odd... fortunately looks like crackhead didn't mangle too much on the engine.

I'll snap some pictures after my break.

    Great minds ... https://www.tundras.com/threads/crackhead-resurrection.94083/page-14#post-2400925

And many more, in fact, one just recently, the newbie dealing with limp mode issues on the truck he got from his friend.

Makes me wonder what I'm going to see when I need to replace mine next go-round.

Okay, took a chill pill and a hike with @TundraGirl2 down memory lane. Revisited, and placed an order for pickup at NAPA tomorrow.

First of all, f'in awesome progress bro.

Second, that's one of two pullers I have, and the one I've used most over the years for HB and all kinds of other stuff, including a couple of steering wheels. Good kit to have.

Third, f'n awesome progress! It deserved saying again.

You get a good shot of that mangled wiring you mentioned?

Thank you! @TundraGirl2 has been very patient with me. I can't appreciate her enough for grounding me. She deserves some thanks also.

I looked at the crankshaft position sensor wire today in the day light, it's honestly not mangled. I had coolant in my eyes, and it was dark last night. The metal shielding around the wire under neath the rubber coating was poking through at the termination of the robber coating. It made it look like it was mangled, but it wasn't.

Thanks again @shifty` and @dbittle for the positive reccos on the puller. The 7-ton three-jaw I rented today was honestly too big to fit in the space.

I will be making a trip to harbus freight for more mag bowls as I've run out of them. Lol

So progress is slow. Deep has worn off and sun is setting. Skeeters are getting fierce lol

I bumped the passengers side cam when taking the old belt off. It's now sitting like this.
    20210913_173651.jpg

It was straight on with the timing mark. What do I need to do? A full revolution until back on mark? I don't want to proceed until I hear from yall.

If you just bumped it that degree, just bump it back?

arent these engines roller followers? Dont listen to me, furthest ive gotten into mine is sparkplugs, but if theres a reason this valvetrain is one way only, i’m interested to know why.

my bad, google images looks like cam on bucket.

If you only bumped it small degree, you can get it back when putting belt on.

Suggest watch starting at 12:30 mark where he first adjusts driver cam after putting belt properly on crank. He then adjusts pass cam.
