Believe it or not, Noah takes charge on almost every project he’s involved with. He takes time to explain while he does it. He’s most definitely the most masculine guy I’ve never been around. I mean hell this past weekend when we went to the junk yard he took out a rear axle practically by himself with some help from nick while I stood there under a truck to stay out of the rain :D

No never been to one. My 4runner friend told me originally about it, but I follow yotatrader on instagram and I guess they host it. Seems to be alot of 90s 4runners and toyota pickups.

So @FirstGenVol has the poll tomorrow, but this whole ordeal of shenanigans started with Erik pondering if he should start a poll. I feel we've come full circle on this. PHM levels of zen are now flowing through us all. I feel the need to feather dust something....

@TRDGen I'm at a 4x4 shop this morning getting an alignment and thought of you. They have a big dish of free stickers.

Just got in a pissing match with the owner of the 4x4 shop over my alignment. When I got here I said I was happy with how they set caster last time(2.8) and asked if we could leave it around that number. I told them it pulls to the right and that's why I was there.

They come back out with the printout showing caster at like 4.5. I told him I was uncomfortable with it being that high and he gets annoyed and says it's good for a lifted truck. He's blaming the pull on road crown even though it's a significant pull. Might be a tire issue too according to them.

Anyways, he got pissed and told his guy to put caster at 2.1. I literally complimented their past work. No idea why he would get so annoyed. I'm curious if it's going to rub more now or not.

Shops are the experts and they hate customers being specific about expectations. I once walked into an alignment shop and handed them DJ specs, which are completely within Toyota tolerances. I asked them get me as close to that as you can please. The guy looked at the page, looked at his coworkers behind me, then looked at me and said your truck will drive like shit and your tires will wear out in a month if we do this. I responded that I don't agree, get me there and if its a problem that's on me. He looked back at his guys again smiling. I said fuck it then and left. Went to 4wheelparts and started the routine over, they looked at the specs I handed them and said thats within their tolerance, no problem.

Now, where is our Friday poll at?

I think that was the case. They went on to tell me my Wheelers bump stops were too big and didn't allow any up travel and my rear shocks(with around 10K miles on them) are shot. I even started by complimenting how they aligned it last time and all I asked was that the put the caster around the same number.

    As you wish..

Consider yourself lucky. I've gone through the whole routine about getting my truck aligned per DJ's specs over 10 years back.

Went to extend of calling the Hunter dealer to find out who had the right alignment machine running the correct software. Every shop I called excluding one 75 miles away stated they don't know how to use the software to put the truck in alignment and just do it via the typical method of 3-4 iterations before they give up and go with the best they can achieve.

Once had a manager promise they could get me to the numbers I wanted after talking with their best tech and after putting in new LCAs and CAM adjustment hardware on shocks that were only a couple years old.

Turns out he couldn't get there; no surprise in my opinion.

Wow. Dunno what the F is with all these alignment shop issues.

It's really not that hard IMO to do why a customer wants. Unless something is seized or broken.

Maybe try looking for a race oriented shop, they're much more tolerant of 'out of factory spec' setups.

I think its the fact Caster and Camber are done using the same alignment bolts so it takes a few iterations from what I'm told. Most cars, and correct me if I'm wrong, usually have Caster fixed so you only align Camber and Toe.
