What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Damn that shots expensive. Anybody know a good place with a good price on interior weatherstripping for the door sills and stuff?

Replaced the hamster wheel just because I had a new one laying around. Cleaned all vents with Lysol wipes as well. Just wish these first gens had a Cabin filter. I saw a DIY post long ago somewhere, just can't remember where

Heather the hand model had a good cleaning write up, but there is no room or access in out trucks for a cabin filter

 

Rear Coverking's came in. Not sure why Fronts didnt as well but waiting to hear back there.

With the Vinyl floor the seats needed a similar life-proof treatment. The Rhinohide seems to fit the bill.

Fit overall is good except it seems too much fabric on the backrest in the middle where it zips for the Armrest to fold down. At least 4" too much, could have cut in half and been still generous but tighter fit. Going to call on this and just check its to spec.

 

New oem lower ball joints and overland custom designs sway bar links.



*still a lot of fluid film last year left. Just gonna need a light touch up coat for the winter

 

Trying to swap out from coil springs. That stupid shock rod on the bilstein 5100 won’t stay still. Keeps slipping out of my channel locks. No Allen key hole.

 

Are you able to weld an extension to the end of the rod temporarily to give you some leverage?

 

No. No welder and I’m not one. I wanna reuse the shock though so I don’t wanna notch the rod. Maybe I’ll wait till the am. I put some pb blaster on it already.

 

So I was able to put the strut rod end in my vice and got the nut off. But what a pain in the ass!

I will reassemble tomorrow and cleaning everything up. I took some pre measurements as well. I’m on stock UCAs so I don’t wanna lift anymore than I have. I believe the general consensus is the very bottom notch with these 2885s. My current measurements were:
Front hubs to fender
21 3/8” driver
21 1/2” pass
Rear
22 1/2” driver
23” pass

some pics to keep @bmf4069 at half chub. Check out my spring compressor. As thick as the strut lol! Not worried with this guy.


Also took some measurements of the OME coils vs the stocks for you curious guys.

Glad it worked out for you. I was going to suggest a vice with the end of the rod wrapped in a thin piece of rubber (like a jar opener) after the welding suggestion.

 

Ive been looking for something like this instead of the factory "hook" recovery points. What bolt size did you use, just the default option? Thanks for the heads up, Ill be ordering these today. Great find!

 

@oscardog86 yea man just the default option on the bolts. I also order (4.75 ton) shackles from them also.

Nice work on these. I'd be concerned that the mounting point would cause the recovery rope or chain to contact the front bumper during extraction. Especially if the front end is buried up a bit.

 

This was actually Cummins3500 who found these. As for contacting the bumper that could be an issue but I have a custom front bumper that doesnt sit quite as low so Ill have to see how they work for me. Either way, should be much better than the stock recovery hooks.

 

Ok OME 2885 coils installed. Seems to ride smoother actually but initially I thought they would be a stiffer ride. I had the 5100s on the 3rd clip and went to the bottom with these 885s and pretty much kept the same height so that’s nice.

I think I’m one of the few that has bought a set and tried them though

 

The smooth ride is the best part of the 885s. Only an tiny bit stiffer than straight up stock. But extra height.

 

yeah, after realizing that the coil is much longer and not as compressed as the stock one was it makes sense that the ride is smoother. Now it's on to rear leafs in the next month or so.

 

I'm glad you posted this. I'm going to have to rethink my swaybar end link replacement choice. I have another company's set bookmarked but I'll have to compare now.

 

I went with Maxxsuspension ones but honestly can't tell any difference. They are definitely more stout and more expensive so hopefully they last longer.

 

I just need something longer than OEM due to lift. It may be Maxx I have bookmarked but that's at home on my laptop.

 

i run stock offroad ones.. no issues yet

I have the OME 885’s and the archive garage HD leaf pack and couldn’t be happier

 

almost bought the suspension maxx links like others mentioned. Overland custom designs has 2 different styles, the ball joints style and a uniball style. They’ve got an account here. That’s how I found out about them

 

Unless they are like a quick disconnect sway bar end link what are the pro's about going with a good aftermarket end link vs. a standard rock auto?
