I saw on another forum, at one point, a forum that some guy fabricated a Transmission filler neck and dipstick for the sealed transmission on the Tundra. At the time, I did not realize how valuable that would be.

He was accurately lay out the correct measurements on the dipstick so that he could check the fluid level as well.

It was a very detailed post and had all of the machining specs someone would need if they took the project to a machine shop. I would like to get this doen but I cannot find the post...or forum.

Anyone ever seen it before or done this?

Never heard of someone adding a filler neck to the Tundra transmission.

I agree that it is a really nice option to have. However, changing the fluid out on this transmission is not as simple. Having a ScanGauge is a must and the transmission fluid has to be at a certain temperature when the overfill plug is reinstalled.

For me, it cost 199.00 for the dealership to drain, refill, check soleniods for function every 60k miles on the heavy use schedule. I thought that was very reasonable every 2-3 years and rest assured a qualified Toyota technician was servicing this very expensive transmission (seriously, check into rebuilding costs).

Oh yeah, I know, they are crazy expensive. I had mine changed at the dealership($250) but having the option to check its level or add it in, for emergencies, would be nice!

It is nice. One of my deciding factors on my current tow rig was serviceable, bonus external spin on filter, and could check fluid levels myself.

It would seem to me to void the warranty. The tranny is sealed for a reason. I would never do this because I could never afford a new tranny.
