    I will say, but a coolant funnel, makes it 10x easier to bleed coolant

    Coolant funnels are great. I have that exact one in orange. Used it probably 10 times. Makes it easier to regulate everything while trying to burp the system.

    That one being clear is neat. Allows you to hit the accelerator pedal to spin the pump faster and still be able to keep an eye on your level.

    I'll place an order then as I'll be doing coolant cycles on all three toyota vehicles. Main concern being the tundra as is has green coolant in it. :facepalm:
    I'll have to finger out a place to store all these damned funnels besides my toolbox in the truck bed. LOL. Regarding the accelerator pedal, I just turn the throttle body by hand while the hood is popped. I can't "Monitor" the RPMs, but I know about where it's at by feel/sound.

    Yes usually I would just do it in the engine bay but when I flushed my 08 ES350 that wasnt an option with fly by wire throttle. So pretty much anything made in the last 10 years. That's about the only vehicle that having a clear one would be nice on.I try to stay away from anything too new anyway.

    I forgot new cars don't use wires like that. :rofl:I try to stay away from new as well. I like things that I can mend, and I have this sneaking suspicion that you do as well. I don't want to have to take my shit to the dealer to get the ECU flashed... :rolleyes: Much rather do it myself.

    You truck is drive by wire too., it’s just the wire is on the throttle body and you still have a cable.. it’s a funky setup

    Also I wouldn't get super worked up over the green coolant. My 95 Tacoma (that I really need to sell) has had it in it for the last 25k (how long I've owned it) and my 96 Camry for about the same amount of mileage with no issues. Mostly just because that's what was already in them and I didn't feel like messing with it. They are both etheline glycol based coolants as far as I know so it shouldn't be a huge deal. The tundra on the other hand has the good stuff and it'll be getting flushed out with new when the frame replacement is done this week. Good on you for getting it flushed out and cleaned with the right stuff though. I don't blame you one bit.

    The green has been in my truck for as long as I've been maintaining it. The zerex toyota coolant is on sale right now through advanced auto parts. 11.95 a gallon? Shieet. Sign me up. That's almost half off. I put in an order today for 8 gallons. My total was $102.

    I was going to go back in with zerex anyways when I got around to the TB/WP job. Figured I'd flush it now that way I won't have to do that later. I can just add zerex, and :burp:.

    Please add your frame number to my frame list I'm very slowly compiling. I need to keep scouring trucks on lots for a frame part number for mine... seeing as how my box in the front is collapsing. Damned idiot kids jumping railroad tracks.

    Yeah I'll definitely get the part number as soon as I have it.

    I saw your post about that the other day. Does V6 2wd have a different frame? I could possibly ask at the dealer for a frame part number or two.

    I'm not sure if the frames are different t or not, but I'll send you my VIN if you want to poke around for me please.

    The limited service campaign only covers the rear end of the truck, and I cleaned all that up last July... the front box section is where mine is FUBAR.

    You ever take your truck in just for fun? Free inspection never hurt anyone. I didn't think mine was that bad when I bought it but I missed the key area for rust on that spare tire crossmember. Where it looks bent in the bottom corner of that crossmember is where they hit it with a hammer. That's all they needed. 20210711_184652.jpg

    2wd frames are the same i believe.. if anything the transmission crossmember may be in the wrong spot. but thats about it.

    I'm considering it now that the SRS airbag light is on constantly. Noticed that today. Almost as if the airbag system was jelly that it has never been touched. I haven't pulled the codes, but that little bastard light on the instrument cluster never went away this morning when I took my short little drive up to the chapel.

    Try messing with your horn and cruise control while turning the wheel from lock to lock (mostly horn) and see if it ever cuts out. Seems like a lot of times the clockspring going bad causes airbag faults. Not sure if you have a fancy code reader that can read those codes or not. If you do that could be a lot more thorough diag.

    Used that trick on a Corolla like yours one time. Horn would only work at certain spots. I also have an abs/srs code reader. Sometimes srs computers don't like to reset on their own without a scanner for reset.
    I've seen an 06 Porsche have an airbag light on for over a year just because the battery went dead one time. Had to use a code reader to clear it.

    Green slime eradication (GSE) project underway with... hiccups.

    The green coolant drain was fairly straight forward as was the first drain, and fill of distilled water about 200 miles later. Below are pictures from my first distilled water drain, and fill.

    2nd, and 3rd drain results are at the bottom of this post. Didn't document 2nd because I knew it would be documented on the 3rd go round.


    Drilled a hole in my plastic skid plate for water bottle funnel activity for improved collection activities. Worked out pretty well.

    I knew hanging onto the old oil fill cap would come in handy. When @empty_lord reccomended a coolant fill funnel kit replete with most of the fittings... I needed. I knew this project would be super easy!

    This specific kit is the one I have.

    I ordered two. One for oil, and one for coolant. The pictures below should be self explanatory, but will be happy to explain if anyone is curious.






    I need a little JBweld between the fill cap, and the yellow adapter, but should be golden after that. I will update when it's complete.

    GSE marches on. Drained, flushed, and rinsed overflow reservoir only. Went back with zerex. Still two days driving time left on this round of distilled water. Will see how much coolant is diluted in the reservoir. IE: how much is being drawn into the radiator, and returning from there.

    Pretty good report. I'm going to send a sample off to them once I get a couple of oil & filter changes done but it'll take awhile since I don't drive it much. What brand and type of oil are you running in the truck?
