Swap the 01s old frame under it, do some budget suspension (5100s with the tundras stock springs, put my old deaver leafs on it and fix up the rocker rot. Be a nice little winter truck

 

I recommend KC lights if your looking for ambers. I have their white and amber square pods and I love them

 

I need to catch up on your other taco build some day.

 

Cool, I'll add em to the list. I plan to compare a bunch of brands. So far I've got KC, Baja designs, Cali raised, Desert armor, and Rigid to research

Put some tow time on her with a trailer today. It was the first time towing with the new JBA Short Headers. Pedal felt a little lighter to the touch with a little more powwa! Very slight, but noticeable. Stoked.

 

Got bumper shell, tail gate and topper all off....headed to paint shop tomorrow. Last I saw the bed was a good 10 years ago, was in good condition then and very fortunate it's still in good condition. Won't be in hurry putting back on....cleanup bed, address issues it may need, clean bumper frame/Rx hitch bracket and a coat of paint.

 

Is the hitch integrated into the rear bumper support? I thought they were separate. Maybe I should splurge for one myself. I don’t have a hitch but the bumper support the ball hitch attaches to needs replacement. Too swollen from rust. Great paint job, BTW.

 

Your thinking is correct, they're separate. As for "paint job"....removed parts headed to paint shop tomorrow if creek don't rise !

 

Leg 2: 340miles
17.3 mpg’s! And if i have a 26.4 gallon tank like the google says, ive still got 10 gallons left at 1/4 tank. I can do better. 18 is within reach. Maybe 19 if i pump the tires up hard.

brakes, bearings, all of its doing fine as wine. Id be lying if i said i didnt expect a gremlin to show up. But thats great, no complaints here.

 

I totally managed 11mpg towing ~6k lbs. you can definitely hit 18-19 unloaded

 

Tried to change spark plugs today, old plugs gapped around 0.08" so it was bad. Changed 7 successfully. Snapped 1 spark plug in half trying to un-seize it from the engine (cranking on a socket wrench). Lower threaded half is still seized in there. Sprayed Ballistol down the plug channel as a penetrating oil. Tried to unscrew it again (lower steel section with hex edges still attached to threaded body). Didn't budge. Will spray more Ballistol down there, hope to penetrate whatever's seizing the threads.

Help.

 

Mix a little 50/50 transmission fluid and acetone and pour a teaspoon or so down in there and then try.

 

If the oil doesn't help it'll likely need drilled. I'd have it towed to a shop since they'll have the proper tools.

 

I'm hoping to avoid the drilling option. I don't like to spend more money on having it towed and then drilled. I don't even want to spend money on a plug extractor... Oil option it is.
Is the ATF fluid+ acetone mixture confirmed? I don't want to fuck it up further.

 

I'll second it. I've seen it in action; it's like kroil.

Well, I can testify to its superior results as a penetrant. It's well-known and widely used among offroaders and restorers and builders. I was skeptical myself when I first heard it years ago but seeing is believing. Let it set on the plug for 20-30 seconds then try turning the plug. If it doesn't move, let it set briefly, then try again. If it moves keep working the plug back and forth tightening and untightening to allow the mix to work in. I can't guarantee you it will work in your case but if it does I won't be surprised. Report back your results.

Edit: It's not going to fuck up anything except for maybe paint if you spill it on a painted part.

 

I definetely second @Desert Dog comment about back and forth even if it’s 1/8 turn each way….patience. Highly recommend that for anyone changing plugs IF they haven’t been changed in awhile. I puckered up when changing plugs after too many thousands of miles between changes….won’t happen again !
