Changed 10mm/⅜ hose coming from gas tank to metal tubes that run upfront somewhere. I bent the old hose, and sidewall cracks revealed themselves. No pics because you need 3 hands for that operation under the car.

Noticed another questionable hose ziptie tensioners. Looks Itty bitty. No replacement on hand, or spring clamps.

I know, I know silicone tube bad. Especially here... it's all I had. I'll wake up early today/tomorrow, and go directly to Rural king looking for replacement rubber hoses.

Rubber hose purchased, and installed in place of silicone. No pics because plenty ahead of this post. Cost was .86 cents a foot. :)

While in autobones, I saw headlight resto kit on clearance for $17.50. Decided to try it out today instead of $400 headlight assemblies with complete bumper removal to access side bolt on headlight

Today was overcast with no rain. Griots garage headlight resto-kit says no water on final ceramic coat. I was wiping down the first headlight when it started to sprinkle... only increased from there :rain:

Time will tell how well it holds if at all because it all went sidewayz halfwayz through :rofl:I spent significantly longer on the drivers side because it wasn't raining. I really gave her the elbow juice on the passengers side. I mean just fisting that whole light on the sanding step. :muscleflexing:

Nice work. These polished headlights still have a lot of life left. Plan and giving them this treatment about once a year. Also Power tools are your friend. I bet you will find a bit more clearity.

I was watching this video and I thought of you. You might want an excuse to hang out outside on a nice cloudy June day hanging out with your truck and car doing relatively mindless work.

I bet you're right about clarity! I've never used a headlight restoration kit before this. Kinda makes me wished I'd done that with my original truck buckets that I still have. I opted not to use power tools on my first time to avoid potential fubars. I may practice with a power tool set on my trucks old buckets. The only reason I still have them is because of deer. Never know when you're gonna need another set. ;)

That's a helluva long one. I'll have to listen to it on the way home. An overcast June day will be great for another application of headlight resto (because it rained on my ceramic coat.)

It was just a "build" instead of Virus. Last night my little brother came out and talked to me while I was under the car. He asked me what I was doing to my Corolla Virus. I just wished I'd thought of it.

    Rocker switch

    Mag Light Bar mount

Also, some sort of roof light bar action will be happening. It will be my biggest light bar yet.
    :laser:
The car sits just under 5 feet tall roughly. My head sits about 4 feet off the ground. Headlights are about 1.5-2 feet off the ground. The buck bushes, and grass on the side of the roads I drive on are anywhere from 3 to 4 feet tall in some places.

I need to be able to see above the grass which means I need more light above it. I figure I can place the light bar in the middle of the roof to alleviate hood/windshield glare.

I figure I can put that green switch here because I don't enjoy that shitty coin holder thing anyways.
    20210601_173917.jpg

Still not quite sure how I'm gonna get the wiring up there. I'll probably do one of these.

FYI: Any lighting experts opinions would be welcome here on this. I'm against nothing except drilling if it can be helped.

Never done a roof bar before.

    I hadn't considered a door wiring run...

I figure the rear passenger door will be used least.

I have a few methods to investigate now. Options are good!

Ye. Nice on the lights buffings. I’ve done my OEM 2 Times in the past. First time looks good for a season or two. Second time one season at best. Used the 3M Kit with Power Tools Buffer Kit ($40).

Maybe time to spend that $390 refund from your headlights assys on some Morimotos 2.0’s. :D

Changed assumed autobones MAF for Denso 197-6030 OE. This is how the box arrived. As you can imagine I was less than gruntled. Disgruntled even.
    MAF 1.jpg
Fortunately, the actual MAF was fine. Below you'll see comparison shots of the Denso and the No-Name unit. The visible pin which I'm assuming is the Temp sensor on the No-Name is slightly shorter. Perhaps this is why my outside temp guage is off by a few degrees, but I think that sensor is in front of the radiator. Time will tell.

Magnet collar on screwdriver helps tremendously with itty bitty, teeny weeny, tiny winy scwews. Free.99 from work.

Installed $10 DD LED turn signal flasher. I completely mangled the fuck out of the original plastic mount because I entered full gorilla mode when the anger started flowing through me.

Big hands in tiny hole equals frustration or a good time. Depends on who you're with.
    received_373987343266255.jpg
Anyways.... since I completely ruined the mount for it I trimmed up one of the side supports for the clip, and trimmed the locking clip on the relay clip. Below is the side support I trimmed up to make it fit again.
    Flasher 1.jpg
    Flasher 2.jpg

It fits pretty good considering I was trying to save my FUBAR. It was so much easier on my truck!

10 minute install. 3 minutes to swap screws, and 7 to figure out how to put in an unbroken bezel.

    Changed my Fan/Overflow reservoir today!

Blue arrow is pointing to a mangle crack repair done by previous owner. Wouldn't hold fluid above the crack which bothered me.
    20210605_060424.jpg
The new one came with an overflow relief that the OEM one didn't have. Added a date sticker for future reference.

I decided to use the funnel after I had a little oopsie daisy as evidenced above.

Dorman 620-546 Engine Cooling Fan Assembly

This was indeed a perfect fit, and that new Fan sounds strong! :muscleflexing:

Added Permetex Anti-sieze to both overflow bolts!

Changed front turns to 1157, and LED using "old" bulbs from the Sequoia. Below is a shot of the old, crusty Drivers side, but both bulbs were like this.

Cleaned battery terminals (even though it doesn't look like it...) and applied anti-sieze to the battery hold down bolt/stud.
    20210605_061854.jpg

Battery is dated 9/18. Both the Tundra, and the Corolla use group size 35. Perhaps I'll look into getting one of them "new fangled" dry cell units for the Tundra, and Rob it's battery for this.

Tundra will sit pretty much 6 days a week now. Sorta sad, but kinda glad too.

Test fit my new toggle switch for the light bar. It wasn't a perfect fit like I'd hoped, but I'd bet money that it would fit exactly into a newer toyota slot.
    20210605_071334.jpg

I elected to swap the dimmer switch, and the toggle switch positions because I can see the toggle now from just about anywhere my head is while driving normally.
    20210601_173917.jpg
Here is the original layout above. I used that stupid coin holder thing as a reference while I rounded the corners of the toggle so it would fit more snugly in the trim piece.

@empty_lord can you provide me with a pin-out or a wiring diagram for the dimmer switch. I would like to tie the toggles back light into the actual dash lights circuit so it won't be on all the time.

Ya got to love Corolla's. I found an XRS model in the Riverhead Toyota (Long Island) and had to have one. My 2006 I found in Florida at a Honda dealer it had 17,000 miles when I purchased it and 250,000 before some girl hit me from behind and totaled it. I found another 2005 in Topeka, Kansas at Briggs Subaru Of Topeka. They handle well, the XRS is peppy and I get good gas mileage.
