Hi Guys and Gals, this question is actually for my 18 Taco work truck that was involved in a very minor collision but rather than create an account on Tacomaworld for one issue I thought I would post here and see if anyone has some ideas. So again, this is a base model SR work truck with 62k miles that was involved in a minor collision. Right fender, bumper cover, hood, and steering knuckle were replaced. Truck has been aligned and holds straight/true down the highway. I am getting the errors "Pre-Collision System Malfunction" and "Check Vehicle Stability System." I have tried swapping out the grille sensor with my 21 Tundra (same part #) and I have tried the OBD connector TS/CG pin reset. All ABS sensors seem to be in good working order, windshield is clean, and I effectively have a new grille sensor (3k miles on it) from my 21 Tundra.

Does anyone have experience with troubleshooting/repairing this system after a collision?

I would get a code reader and see what code(s) are present. That would be a good starting point IMO.

My opinion too...sorry, should have clarified that I tried getting my code reader to work in generic OBDII mode (it is designed for German cars) which has been successful for me on American rigs but could not get it to connect to the Toyota. So I was hoping someone may have already been through this and would have an easy answer.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. You can get a Carista dongle thingy for about $20 I believe and use it free if you cancel their service after you no longer need it. I know for a fact they will read codes on Toyota’s. I don’t have any experience with PCS after collision damage. Sorry I can’t be more helpful.

It may need to be reaimed, a big thing post collision. Take it back to the body shop, they should be able to get it aimed for you.

See this all the time, just removing the grill at times will set off the code and have to be reaimed.

Thanks, good call. I just ordered the Carista - will be here Sunday. Then I can hopefully attack this a little more intelligently. Thanks again and have a great weekend!
