How to remove upper control arm from spindle?

You'll need something sharp to get that c clip out next. It can be a little frustrating but be patient and you'll get it. You can put your new ball joints in the freezer to try shrinking them before you install them, it let's them slide in easier. I know that works on uniball adapters but haven't tried it on ball joints.

 

Don’t forget the can of black rust oleum when your done

to help hide your rage damage lol

Yep. Clip comes off to allow it to be pushed through.

 

I’m just following along some video on YouTube from Chris fix lmao. I’m one socket size short to be able to wrench the ball joint tool but I think the pulley puller may be able to get it

My old balljoints from the blazer are buried in the shop somewhere. I thought it would have pushed down, but theres a lip at the top of the socket?

 

I’m glad you guys are here. It definitely wouldn’t be denting in the ball joint that far if it was the correct way. I took the puller off and all it took was 2 smacks with my hammer to take it off.

 

You need to hang that on your garage wall... or make something out of it. Mistakes are the best teachers.

Kind of like a drywall patch for Kyle‘s fist hole in the drywall

 

To press the old ones out you need one cup that will go over the shaft and will sit on the shoulder of the joint here (red) and another cup that goes over the bottom of the joint and sits on the spindle here (blue)



When you pres the new ones in you'll need a cup on top that sits on the spindle and has clearance for the joint to come in. Press from the bottom up. Be sure that the cup has clearance.

 

That’s how I got both of mine off last night..#5 sledge. 4 or 5 stout wacks amd she broke free!

 

Put it back in and finish pushing it through.

Get yourself a paint marker or steal somebody's nail polish. As you put stuff back together, use the marker to put a line on every nut and bolt as you have tightened them. This is a good thing to do. It let's you know at a glance that you're done with that, and if the nut or bolt loosens later you'll see right away.

Can the uniball be moved? Or am I just too weak to move it lol. It’s at an angle where it’s hard to slide into the hole

EDIT: nvm I figured it out! I had to move the control arm and knuckle simultaneously. I’m below a noob

Yes, you can move it, find something to protect the threads and slip something over to get some ass on it.
