I just wait for it to rain unless there's a juicy one just like I posted. The windshield wipers clean off most of the debrizzle from my line of sight.

I personally haven't washed the truck since March of 2020. I do occasionally run it through the automatic warsher.

I drive early in the morning going home so bug hits are unavoidable. They get real bad when it's a warm winter. Driving in the dark both ways, bugs a plenty.

If I was anal about the exterior of the truck I'd never do anything else but warsh it.

    Just my two cents y'all.

I have a bottle of griots 3 in 1 ceramic that I am going to try this year. I think I will put a few extra coats on the bumper and grill.

I get that. You put the miles on everyday. I put my miles on in big chunks and then it gets to sit in the garage. I don't have an excuse to not keep up on it.

My 2002 is getting a timing belt done (way above my knowledge, patience, and time atm) and I had them look at the brakes cause I am starting to get a shuddering after they are very warm. Now, I replaced the rotors and pads only 10K miles ago and they measured/checked and told me that yup, the rotors are warped. Maybe I went too el cheapo on the rotors?

edit: the shop told me that tundras are well known for warping rotors. Is there any validity to this? I don't recall seeing that discussed here at all.

Couple pics of the Exhaust Work I did when doing the JBA Shorty Headers. I removed each Cat Pipe and cleaned up the Flanges on both ends. Installed New Gaskets, as well. You can see where the Flange was getting thin/worn on the high side where water would dive into.

Used Permatex HighTemp Gasket (not pictured) to fill that and seal from future penetration. Good shtuff! Shprayed everything with Black BBQ Ceramic Rustoleum.

Did I mention I received Yard of the Month for May?

When doing the brakes on these trucks, It's very important that the rear brakes be checked and adjusted. Many people ignore them and then the fronts do all the work. Also, lifted trucks need the LSPV adjusted for proper operation. I'm on my 3rd first Gen and never had a warped rotor.

Here's a few pics of my compressor installed... I forgot to mention that I used 3" x 6" 3/8" aluminum L angle that I cut to fit the radius of the fender pretty closely.

Thanks. At the time, I did adjust for a little more rear bias and felt an improvement in braking. I did not look at the rear hubs and so weak rear hubs could have the front doing too much work as you stated. Thanks, live and learn.

Thanks, my truck was equipped with the 13wl when i bought it so I feel set on calipers. Pretty likely that I f-ed up with not really digging into the hubs when I serviced the front. Otherwise, if I get shuddering in another 10K miles or so, I will be looking for better rotors.

Discovered on accident that when leaving the shit pit I can drive by about 120 yards of honeysuckles in full bloom grown onto a fence right next to the road on the side road to the back door.

If the breeze is right I can get a nose full and alleviate my nostrils of burnt rubber (the carcinogenic kind) and fiberglass dust or whatever the hell material airbags are made of.

Not sure if TX dust is that much worse, but Idaho dust and silt gets everywhere! I believe that ARB makes a cap for the outlet.

Also, if dusty conditions are part of life; you can remote the intake of the compressor if you want. I did such shenanigans on the 4runner install, mounted it high inside the passenger footwell; then it pulls clean and cooler cabin air. I will do something of the sorts when I mount my dual arb in the tundra

It has to be similar if not worse. That flour type stuff is all around the west. I thought dust was bad and then I hit a real silt bed and my dust cloud past me. There's no washing that stuff off.

Got the ole girl back from her makeover. full monstaliner paint job, color is called dirt bag

Huge shoutout to Barnett’s Economy Painting for knocking this thing outta the park. Pictures don’t do it justice. Did inside the door jambs, behind the cab, and what they could under the hood. The grill is probably my favorite part. I had em paint the flares, I’ve just gotta order my clips and seal before re-install.

I usually don't like these because you loose the body detail lines. They end up looking like chubby versions of their former selves. I don't know if it's the color or lighting but this looks really great. I wonder if my 3rd gen 4runner could make a green color look as good as your truck. Very nice.

So today I was super impressed with myself. I was doing so well. Changed the steering shaft seal and the entire steering column.

Then I got stuck trying to figure out what I did wrong...
once I had it all together, my steering wheel was turned a little to the right.(should be straight with wheels) there’s only 1 way for the steering column to connect to this portion from what I see...

    AC0D91A3-C499-4B23-A482-D9DF17A120B1.jpg

Figure this can’t be the mistake so maybe I messed something up underneath where the shaft connects to the steering rack when I was changing the steering shaft seal? I went to fix that connection but disconnecting and straightening the steering wheel, the bottom section is off from where I had marked it before. The top section can only attach at 1 location so the bottom is the only place I could rotate enough for my steering wheel to line up straight with tire direction.
    3FC477BD-A4E8-4293-ADE5-02ED7D6AE630.jpg

How badly have I messed up?...

I have heard that a few places, including here and my local mechanic. I had warped rotors twice in the first two years of owning the truck. More on that in a sec...

That makes a lot of sense, and could be part of my problem (note to self to check the rears) however, the local mechanic suggested Power Stop KC2324-36 Z36. When I needed to turn the rotors after only about 11 months since the last time, I said screw it and got those.

I've had them on for over a year now, no hint of warping.
