Must not be in a great demand around me. Got curious after seeing all yall talking up the values. Carvana offered me 33k for my otd 41k 2019 14k mileage trd sport.

It’s definitely hit or miss. Mines a DC, I was lucky to find it, but to clear a cool $3k in less than a month is tempting… my offer expires in 4 days so the clock is ticking.

Woah… I just re-read your post. I sold my 2019 base SR with 17k miles two weeks ago for $36,800 to Carvana. I paid $31,500 for it new. That’s weird.

Yeah its odd. The MSRP on the 2019 new was 50k. When I went to kbb it said used was 43k, so buying it under that was a good deal to me. Funny to see the carvana quote. Not interested in selling even if it was 5k over, but was surprised at the offer.

It gets even crazier. I bought my 2021 SR5 3 weeks ago - selling price was $39,800. Exact same vehicle is now selling for $48,600… I wonder how long this can go on?

It's the new normal. Prevailing minimum wage is $15/hr, house prices are up, vehicles sell for MSRP. Planned inflation. It's going to be a rough ride, hold on tight - and plan on working until you die.

Inflation might be playing a small part, but this is ultimately a supply and demand issue.

Sounds like it could be a reginal thing. They offered me $44,495 for my 2019 Platinum with 50K miles. That would be $5K less than I paid for "the truck" so not too bad for trade in. That said I'm into the truck by about $80K with all my aftermarket options and that doesn't include the -$5k I buried into it with my trade. Basically, not such a good deal for someone like me who can't stop adding things in order to bring the tech into this century. The only thing I need now is a supercharger....:monocle:

Your mod list must be expansive. I figured my mods will come in at 25k with a supercharger. Putting me all in around the cost of a TRD Pro.

My buddy has a theory that they’re trying to get a monopoly on the used car market. Seems to be working, not much out there for sale by owner.

The worst part is that I actually had the dealer put the lift, amp research boards, Wheels/tires and bed cover on. That said, I paid way more than all of that stuff is worth just to ensure the dealer would uphold the factory/extended warranty. I do have a very long list of expensive adds I have done myself to boot. My interior adds are probably worth $8K & I installed all of them myself so I'm not adding any extra "install cost" to the list. My tow mirrors, Headlights, external lighting & chrome delete are worth about $3k. Again, I installed all of that.

I love the truck. I just have expensive taste & this truck lacked creature comforts. :( What make this truck pretty damn cool is the fact that because it is so antiquated the extensive mods are fairly easy to do without having other issues. I have no dash lights & the truck has a perfect bill of health as of last weeks 50K checkup. :bikewheelie2:

My salesman, a close friend, calls every two weeks asking for my 2021 Lunar Rock TRD Pro. He said they'd give me 60k no questions asked.

I just traded in my 2016 CM Off-Road pkg for a 2021 Limited Nightshade edition.

    2016
    130k miles
    Several large exterior scrapes/scratches
Interior in desperate need of a detail
    $28k

    2021
    New
$60k ($7k premium upcharge added and "can't do anything about it")

I'm having a little buyers remorse. I love the new truck, she's really great looking (the Nightshade blackout is pretty sweet), but I feel just apoplectic that I paid OVER MSRP!?!?!??! $15k upcharge for a TRD Pro, and this particular dealer was the only dealer in the area that had ANY inventory. Another dealer I was at had just sold their last truck 1 hour before I got there (TRD Pro Lunar Rock that I REALLY wanted). Is going to suck when the model year switch happens and the bounty I had on my trade in has evaporated in to a dismal well of debt on the new one. No worries though, I've already started draining the savings on all the tricks i'm gonna throw on 'Black Betty'! :)

I just plugged in my 2021 SR5 twice. First time through I said I had Modifications (both TRD sway bars), they offered 39,500. That is just about what I paid for it in Jan (minus documentation fees, etc)
But then I went through it again, but unchecked Modifications (since I can remove the sway bars easily) and checked "Alloy Wheels" instead of "Premium Wheels" (I replaced the awful sr5 steelies with some craigslist 1794 wheels) and it offered $49,332. I ran through it again just to check, same number

So now I'm thinking... if I sell I'll gain 8k (spent 2k on leather seats, soft tonneau cover, wheels, sway bars) but then I'll be a man without a Tundra, and I thought I was over that part of my life.
And I'm confused - 10k difference for no mods?

EDIT: LOL just plugged in my 03 Mini Cooper S fun/project car (worth about 5k on craigslist). They offered 1500, so they're not totally stupid

Went to get an oil change today. Landcruisers are on the lot for 109k. TRD pro tundras for 69/70. 1794s for even more.

    Insane.

Same here - I’ve seen base model SRs for $48k, actual MSRP is like $37-38k.

Sold my 2018 DCLB Taco with 21000 miles on it for what I paid when I bought it. Crazy. Maybe I'll price out my Platinum Tundra on Carvana, see what I get.

They're really only avoiding the cost of having managing suppliers running unnecessarily. They will still assume a very large loss in total vehicle sales as a result of not having access to semi-conductors. They are still going to feel the pain of shutting down at least 3 global plants.
