I believe that’s the speed sensor for the speedometer

It’s toast is what it is.

 

Didn't get the speed sensor heat shield when he installed the flux capacitor. Never cheap out when installing the flux capacitor.

 

No it was like that when I got the truck. The speedometer works

 

Until you hit 88

 

Wonder why its cooked/burnt?

 

As others have said, speed sensor. The reason speedometer is possibly working is because the one that's toast in pic on a A340E transmission is the # 2 sensor and the other is # 1 sensor. "If the No.2 vehicle speed sensor malfunctions, the ECM uses input signals from the No. 1 vehicle speed sensor as a back–up signal" according to FSM(@empty_lord) ?....but you should have a code(P1700) unless that sucker is actually operable.

 

Looking at the wire, I bet it does work

 

No codes. Only code is p430 but I I switched the back of o2 sensors , I cleared the code now and waiting to see if the code pop back up

I’ve seen worse still work through literally just a strand of wire

 

I can believe that considering not much current flow but doesn’t really matter, it’ll work till it don’t. It’s possibly working off of # 1 sensor anyway.
