You're welcome, I had a lot of questions as well. I'm glad I got my setup, as the cameras recorded a helluva one car accident on I-10 in central Texas 10 or so days ago. I managed to avoid the vehicle, but if I had not been able to, I had the recording of the entire accident.

Yeah, travel season is starting soon for me. Wisconsin’s pretty chill for the most part but I think I’d like to have one. What unit did you go with?

It's a good camera from what I know. I have the single facing 119.

Haven't needed it for an accident yet, but it's nice to have just in case.

I wish I would’ve seen this thread before deciding on the Nextbase. I actually went with thewirecutter.com for their pick as it was their top choice.

    https://www.bestbuy.com/site/nextbase-522gw-dash-cam-black/6346998.p?skuId=6346998

While it is a decent system, it is not for the tech challenged. It required a few back and forth emails to customer support (very good btw) to get the app to work properly. And the price is more than others of similar capabilities. However, I did wait for a sale ($50 off) before getting one for The Black Pearl and one for my wife’s Highlander.

No, it's one of several things my Tundra got for Christmas that are still sitting in their boxes in the garage. Every time I budget time to install them, something comes up. But now that we have to clean the house out to prepare to sell, I have a good excuse to prioritize the installation of those items much higher!

I'll get you a pic of how it mounts as soon as I can bud, sorry for the delay. If you have the backup camera in your rearview mirror, this will not work, I thought I could do without and I missed it too badly so I ran another cable to my USB input in the dash.

If you want the adaptor, i'll gladly send it to you, I have no real use for it anymore? Let me know! DM me your address if you'd like it.

Near as I can tell, my mirror pigtails/plugs in closer to the headliner. I do not have a rear view camera display in my mirror.

I guess I am just trying to figure out if I can use the adapter and still goet everything in that plastic channel.

Ok my friends need some help here!
Got the Viofo A129 duo and started getting my ducks in a row to do the install...
I am planning on doing the hard wire install tapping in to the fuse box...ordered everything I need...
So I watched a good video on Youtube about this on a 20 crewmax and felt ready to go..

BUT THEN...went to find the fuse box and its in the engine...
So my question is how do I get from the cab to the engine with the Viofo HK3 hardwire kit? Anyone else had to do this? It may be easy but I am a newbie at this mod stuff...Pretty handy though so if I get shown the way I can get it done!

    Thanks!

Here's the back of my auto dimming mirror, incl. the backup camera. That black plastic piece is part of the plug, as it attaches via 3 tabs IIRC? It's a pain in the ass to get off the plug, but it's only there as a beauty piece. Hope this helps!

Wouldn't you know it... I thought my mirror plugged in near the headliner. Sounds like I should get that adapter then.

The kid should do those videos; he seems a bit more mechanical than pops. I'm not sure why the guy ran the cable to the back through the passenger side A pillar, when he had the driver's side open already.

Yes, very handy. And the short version is what works for the Tundra. I'm sure the long would as well, but no need for the extra length.

If you have the Plus Duo, (not the Duo, or the Pro Duo), and want an 8m cable, right angle on both ends, I have a new one here. I mistakenly ordered the cable for the Plus, when I have the Pro, and they are model specific. VIOFO told me to just keep it, and if someone else can use it, I'd rather go that way, as opposed to tossing it. The 8m allows a user to run under the doors, instead of over the top, and the right angle makes for a much cleaner install than the straight connector on the stock cable. Shoot me a PM with your address, and I'll figure out what the shipping would be, (< $10).

    Mods, what mods?
I installed the ThinkWare P800Pro last week. I have taken the truck around town a few times and off roading for a night drive. The recorded footage is pretty good. For context, I previously had an Apeman C770. I custom fabricated a holder out of spare kydex for the rear camera.

One thing to note, the memory card that comes with it 32GB, barely records about 2 hours of footage. My night trail drive had some decent footage while I was driving in a dry creek bed, but due to continuous recording, that footage was recorded over during the drive back home. GAH!!!!

Is there a constant power source in the overhead console? I have a moonroof, auto dim rear view mirror, etc. I read that someone only power for a limited amount of time, but didn't have a moonroof. Getting my thinkware 1000 front and rear tomorrow and trying to prepare before I install it

I ran my power cable and tapped into the fuse box on the driver side. You don’t want constant power or you’ll kill your battery. You can tap into constant power if you have the optional charging/extra battery that they offer. If you don’t have that extra battery you only want your camera on when you driving.
