Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a 3-in polisher for smaller areas obviously. I'm semi dissatisfied with my griots because of the stalling issue when the panels aren't flat. I know I can ramp up the speed until the polisher but kind of wondering if I made the wrong decision and purchasing. I don't want to be in the same boat. But I also don't know that I need to buy a rupes. Does anybody have experience with their 3-in polishers or smaller polishers that they can share to help me out? Thanks.

I have the Griots G8 and I love it. Stalling can be an issue with any free spinning DA. If you want forced rotation, pick up a Flex....just be prepared to drop some serious coin.

I actually converted my G6 into my 3" polisher. Works great, plenty of power. I still have my G9, but considering a G15 or G21.

I converted my old Porter Cable to a 3". It's alright. Griots makes good machines. I use alot of their products. I want to get the Rupes Ibrid but I've used one I was less than impressed, especially for the price.

My neighbor has a rupes nano or whatever it's called said I can give it a spin. Just afraid I'll end up wanting it. If it's not forced it can't be that much different for the price difference than a griots. Thanks for the suggestions.

Supposedly the SPTA is comparable or even better than the Rupes ibrid. I want to get one soon. And a fraction of the price. Check it out

The SPTA offers a couple of kits for polishing hard to reach places. It also comes with two batteries which is enough to cover most use cases.

I have the Griots G8 and love it. Used the 3 inch pad to do my AG 4runner Pro. Plan on using it on my new Tundra Pro soon as I get it end of the month.

I ordered the SPTA kit. It just came today. Im not sure when Ill get to try out, but it defintely doesnt seem any lesser quality than the ibrid from what I've noticed playing around with it for a minute. $200 for the polisher, charger, 2 batteries and a bunch of pads is much easier to swallow than $630 for the ibrid kit.

Finally got to try out the new Griots 3". I like it alot. It seems to stall a lot less than the 6" even with a 5" backing plate. It's nice for small areas and headlights. Here is what I used it on.

Also, I was able to try out the sample of HD speed I got gifted to me from @briarpatch. I like it on a 1 step in this situation but I topped it with Meguiars ultimate wax because I read the longevity basically sucks for HD speeds wax it applies as you go.

I apparently didn't get a shot of the after of headlights...it worked well. Some fucktard this gal dated apparently used a non fine grit something or other and tooth paste...
