I recently had my 18" tires switched from the factory steel wheels to the factory TRD wheels at a local Goodyear tire shop. My tire pressure monitoring system has been going nuts since. Sometimes I get a system failure dash indicator on the radio, other times I get the wrong pressure readings as too low, other times all is fine. What gives? The tire place has reset the vehicle 2x an I have done the same. Getting ready to bring it to the dealer. Any ideas??

Programming the tpms can be tricky and not every tire place knows how. I've had good luck with "Discount tire" if your looking for the lower cost alternative to the dealer.

Read the thread before swapping wheels and speaking with a Toyota tech. Once the swap was complete everything worked fine for the first few days. Issue then arose and its been crazy since. Been thinking maybe the sensors were not programmed correctly which is why I was considering letting Toyota have a look if its for free.

Sometimes they charge a diagnosis fee. If it’s under warranty, you don’t pay but if it isn’t then you will have to pay the fee. It’s usually about an hour labor, around $100 or so depending on where you are located. Maybe they’ll hook you up and look at it for free.

The 2020/21 sensors are a pain in the ass. I installed new OEM sensors 2 months ago when I had my new tires put on. It took over 500 miles for them to register to the truck just so the light would go out. 1500 miles on them and still can't even get the f'n pressures to read.

Did they put their own sensors in? The 2020 and 2021 uses a different type and mhz sensor.

Man, you guys are killing yourself with tpms issues. Just get autel sensors and clone them. No resetting anything. I been doing this to my Honda, Toyota, and Chrysler Pacifica. Never an issue. Plus autel sensors are duel frequencies so you can not buy the wrong one.
