Also with the maestro- the parking sensor I thought was one splices included in the idata link harness.

Click on settings- av icon- scroll down to oem setup- vehicle settings (truck needs to be on or turn keys beyond acc). It will state "vehicle setting scanning" or something similar. Go back to the gauges screen and add the features you want. Or wherever you need to add the feature you were missing.

So i called the company again, which installed the system and told them about no gauges and tire pressure. Their response was, it's not supported by my car. I told them I already called datalink and Kenwood and both confirmed it will work and also both were saying its something with the maestro unit. I set up an appointment this afternoon and the same guy took the car back in, flashed the maestro unit again, and now all the gauges and tire pressure works. The only thing which doesn't work is Door Open. His excuse again, the car doesn't support it, as it is not available on CAN Bus. I highly doubt that. The center display in the instrument cluster shows which door is open and you can also buy electric running boards who plug into the OBD port and only bring down whichever side you open. So definitely available on the CAN bus. But to be honest I don't care much about that. At least for now. Maybe later on when I am doing some set-up to trigger stuff with the programmable outputs. Not sure yet.
So far everything is working. It looks like he didn't assign anything to the hold function of the steering wheel controls. One of these days I will play with it myself. I already downloaded the software and I will wire up the maestro with a USB extension and power switch, so I don't have to take everything apart all the time. It sucks, actually it's not to bad. He showed me how to do it, but still, why if you can just plug in your computer and reprogram everything.

Does anyone of you guys know, when I want to flash the maestro unit now? Can I read out my current configuration so I have that as a "backup" in case my settings screw up? Or can I just overwrite whatever is there but without actually seeing whats there?

    Thanks.

Flashing the Maestro is probably the easiest part of the install. I answered the questions I was forced to answer and left everything else however it automatically populated and everything works. Don't overthink it...it's the easy part.

I also believe the open doors work on this he Kenwood.

What do you mean by door open?

I believe that when you go back into the program you can what has been programmed. But I haven’t played enough with it to find it as I was in a hurry when I did mine. But it gives you the option to print off a wallet card for quick reference. So I did that and took a picture of it for future reference.

I’m assuming he means on the same screen that shows your tire pressure will show which door is open by highlighting it in yellow.

I do not recall a parking sensor wire in the iDatalink harness. What I do remember from my install, was grounding the Kenwood H/U parking brake sensor wire so that all of my H/U features were running regardless of whether or not my truck was driving.

I fixed the tire pressure sensors today - essentially it tells you which tire to go to and let air out of it and when it identifies the tire the horn honks. While doing this I noticed the door open on that screen worked fine.

I have a 2017 cm sr5 with an ilx309 and maestro rr. I get all guages including door opens except the tpms still states n/a for all 4 tires. I have these guages with and without the obd plugged in. Any tips on how to get my tpms working? I already did a reset which was the first thing datalink support suggested.

And the TPMS work with the center dash display?

My 2017 sr5 does not have individual tpms in the dash cluster like the 2018+ do. Just a tpms low tire indicator lught but i was under the assumption from reading other maestro installs that 2014,2015,16,17 models could still display this if you had a maestro. Maybe i am incorrect.

How long has everything been installed? When I first installed my HU and Maestro (and after I disconnect the battery) it takes anywhere from a few hours to a couple days for the tire pressures to change from "N/A" to the pressure reading. You may want to go through the menu and make sure you've allowed access to the vehicle info and validated PIDs. There is an option in the Maestro settings on my HU to do this - but I'm running a Kenwood.

It has been weeks. Do you have your obd plugged in to your maestro or just running off the canbus info that maestro gets from the other sources. Im trying to determine if the obd is really required for tpms. I might also have a conflict on my obd plug from my fortin remote start t harness that interrupts the tpms. If anyone has a fortin remote start and maestro please chime in with what made this work. I am beating my head here as the installation tech basically said if tpms isnt there it wont be which i think is bs.

I have a kenwood/maestro rr. I also have the fortin evo 1 with t-harness. My maestro is plug into the obd port; (though it’s not really needed. As one could pull the correct pin and splice it in).

My tpms have worked since I did my own head unit install. My transmission guage didn’t at first. Once I had the headunit rescan my truck it worked. Try rescanning your truck. Assuming your headunit has the option.

I’m setup the same as @irishpride114. I have the Fortin remote start and Maestro plugged into the OBD.

Thank you both for confirming the fortin and maestro compatibility. Did either of you have to put a diode anywhere on your harness? The reason i ask is if i plug in the obd to maestro plug my headunit stays powered on after turning truck off. Sorry i am trouble shooting multiple maestro issues but one leads to the other in this instance and may be connected.

I didn’t have to add anything. Plugged everything (OEM plugs, OBD, etc.) into the Maestro harness and it worked as it should. Sounds like wiring between the maestro harness and the HU harness might be crossed up if the HU is staying powered on after you shut the truck off and open the door to kill accessory power. That or you may need to reflash the Maestro.

no diode needed. Like it was mentioned above, it sounds like something is crossed. Did you/install shop repin your maestro obd connector? Can you take a picture of the connector so we can compare? It should be the same as ours.

I had a shop install. I regret that decision since i have taken the damn thing out and reinstalled 2 times since. I will take a picture of my obd connectors on tomorrow morning with better light.

I pulled mine down so you can see what it looks like with both the Fortin and Maestro plugged in. OEM OBD port in red, Fortin plug and OBD in Yellow, Maestro connection with grey/red wire in blue.

My TPMS works just fine. I had a shop install it too and they had to reflash the Maestro RR2 unit and it started working right away. Heck it gives me even the temperature of the tires, which isn't shown on the center dash. I am sure OBD connection is needed as this is the can bus connection to the car to get the different values. I am pretty sure it wont work without obd communication.

Thank you az boathauler. That is the exact order i had mine setup and when the maestro obd gets plugged in it keeps the alpine unit powered on. I have taken the remote start out of the equation and it still stays on if the maestro obd is plugged in. Unplugged it shuts off with car. This is frustrating and i think i need to make a call to datalink to see what they suggest next.

Looking at a Kenwood unit, probably the DNX997XR if Crutchfield ever gets them back in stock.

Does the Maestro RR retain use of the factory bluetooth mic or do I need to install the one that comes with the deck?

Are there alternatives to the RR that just retain the steering wheel controls without all the OBD stuff? The gauges aren't really a value add for me. End of the day all I want is wireless Carplay without giving up all the factory buttons/functions.

I have that exact radio with maestro rr.

You will need to use the mic that comes with the kenwood. The factory mic is a different voltage than the one from kenwood; and most other radios I believe.

There are alternatives; but from the research I did. None were as good as the maestro. As far as the obd stuff- it just plugs into the port if you want it. Took like 5 mins or so to route it hidden.

When the maestro comes it needs to be flashed and programmed regardless. The app to do it is super easy and allows you to print off chest sheet if you will, of the new steering wheel buttons. Make sure you reprogram the mute button as it’s not set from maestro.

I looked at crutchfield and James Randy Taylor (tech12volts) was slightly more expensive with everything (shipped) you need for the install, than crutchfield was for the just headunit, without tax/shipping. he even assembled the harness so everything was plug in play.

If you like sat radio, you will need a new receiver. You can use the new antenna that comes with or the existing one. I used the new one and hid it in the center channel speaker spot- and was able to still use the center channel speaker. You make a small 1/8" notch towards the rear of the center speaker compartment. That allows the cable to pass through unobstructed.

I reused the oem nav antenna and USB port. I added a cable to use the second usb on the back of the headunit.

    any other questions just ask.
