There are a lot of ways this can go but it's going to boil down to personal preference.

Bre and I rock a cheapie Ozark tent that has been great! Much better than our old Coleman tent.
Air mattress we use was off Amazon, idk the brand.
Sleeping bag is mostly personal preference but we use a Big Agnes doublewide.
You’ll want a headlamp, lantern, stove, etc...

check out Big 5 for gear. You can also visit you local thrift stores. Reach out to your local Boy Scout Troop for good ideas for essential camping gear. Inventory what you have. Determine what kind of camping you want to do. that will be key to what you need.
You can also go to REI and mortgage the house for your gear.

@fisherman951 most important question is what type of camping are you looking at doing. Reason I ask is because tent camping is a lot different than TT camping.

I also have a Gazelle 4 person. You could probably fit your entire clan in there for a couple more years. But you can definitely get big tents more cheaply. Ozark, yes. Also make good camp chairs that aren’t expensive. Coleman, I think, makes one that keeps light out, and doesn’t get too hot when the sun hits it— if you’ve got kids you need to sleep, that’s a good thing. A couple years back, Costco has these for not too much money. Need bags for everyone— smaller to pack than blankets. You and the Mrs. may be more comfortable on cots, but to fit 3.149 million kids, easier to get sleeping pads. I’d suggest getting a separate pop-up tent for a bucket toilet. Get a Coleman propane stove.

I agree with the advice to go to Big 5 but I’d suggest Wal*Mart first if you’re just getting started. They’ll have reasonably priced versions of everything you need. Everything. The hard part will be not buying everything.

To start, skip getting camp plates and what-not; paper plates and your oldest pans will get you through. Don’t buy more than the basics ‘til you know you’ll keep at it.

Alrighty instead of quoting everyone, thank you to all. Camping will be something like a local lake where either tent camping or TT are allowed. Been hearing a lot of good things about the gazelle tents. For beds I’m thinking maybe cots will be best, I don’t like waking up to flat mattresses lol. But that’s the info I’m looking for. Any brand that works best then others?
For cooking I got that covered tons of grills, griddles and so on as for those that know me, well I ain’t skinny lol. Cook ware and utensils will be disposal or old pans we have.
I plan on getting a pop up tent with a bucket/toilet as the camp sites have bathrooms but mostly for night use. Also do you guys use that product that if you have to take a dump it turns in to gel or something like that?
Also for tent I’m looking in to more of those quick pop up tents instead of doing it old school pole by pole. Unless recommended to get that style.

Exped megamat duos are the Cadillacs of air mattresses. But they’re pricey and they pack large. I have a bad back and this is the only air mattress that doesn’t kill my back. All the cheap air mattresses are flat by morning and my back is killing.

    https://www.rei.com/product/112541/caddis-rapid-6-tent

This is the pop up tent I use. But they have similar ones on Amazon for half the price now. No poles, literally just unfolds and sets up in 1 minute. I can take it down and packed away in a couple of minutes. After a long day of wheeling, last thing I want to do is spend 20 minutes setting up my tent. Not the best in wind or rain but a great summer tent. Just remember, when they call it a 6 person tent, it really only fits 4 adults comfortably.

    Did you say camping?!
Look at a Megamat for an “air bed”. They are awesome! Kinda pricey tho. Cots are great with a thin pad.

Check OfferUp in your area. Lots of new “campers” last year. They figured out real fast it wasn’t for them and are selling their almost new gear.

Others have already touched most of the bases here but my recommendation is a Coleman propane coffee pot. I've been using mine for 10 years now and it's quick and easy in the morning. Mine has a metal carafe - pretty sure I got it at Big 5 or Wally World.

    He means 5 tents:
:monocle: ‘Let’s see... me and @mrs.fisherman951 and the two littlest in here.... and, um, 6 X 4 more tents... well, that’ll get us started with the kids that been behaving. We can bring the others out on rotation. Hmmmn, now I gotta see about a trailer to carry these tents....’

Before we got this, I tried percolators, pour overs, etc. This stepped it up to a new level and stays lit in the wind.

I've had great success with both Coleman Quickbeds and the Ozark pictured below. Usually can get them for sub $50. I have a 3" foam topper from Costco I put on top and I sleep like a rock. A few years back I was looking to shell out more for a "brand name" air mattress, but I came to the conclusion these two models work great enough for me and I can get multiple spares for the price of a "brand name". If I'm going on a longer trip I pack a spare one because they don't take up much space folded in the box.

I also purchased this and I HIGHLY recommend it for air beds. All of my bedding (foam topper included) fits inside with this on then I roll it up like a big burrito. I can pull it out from the back of my truck and toss it in the sand, do whatever.

But not ‘all of Y’all’? :monocle:

So then, you definitely don’t want to tag @Marty McFly. That’d definitely result in having to ride out with ‘All o’ y’all!’

It’d mean the return of the SoCal Shenanigans $4!t Show! :p
