What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Grease rub huh... I'll try it in a small area first and see how it goes.

Will go easy on power wash. I've too heard several stories about it going wrong. Was mostly just planning on doing around rear axle and suspension.

 

I used my Gloved Hands as well for some of those tight areas where the thick sponge won’t fit or in the weird angles.

I’ve erased most of my Truck Pics, but will snap a few next week when doing some other work.

 

I picture you crawling out from under the truck with more grease on you than the frame got.

Yes. You are wrong. The Grease is thick and attaches to the sponge (or your hand) like... grease. If you are somewhat contentious you’ll only dirty your Hands and maybe a little on your forearm/elbows. All the work is like smathering icing on a cake with the Hands.

You be able to do most of the axles and frame in less than 8 hours. The rest of the truck I attacked as I did other fixes or inspections using the saved Sponge in a Tub for reuse. Its an old trick I learned from a mechanic. A little at a time and eventually you’ll get the entire truck done, but the frame and axles you can tackle in under a day.

I installed that GM fuse diode mod for AGM batteries. I remember empty_lord talking about the slight voltage increase for healthier charging and posting a thread about the mod.

I'm sure there will be even more of a difference when the engine isn't hot.

 

For the guys running down the frames.... Doesn't all the grease and oil your putting on underneath collect a ton of dirt and debris?

One really cold morning I was stopped at a light, heater cranked, headlights on, music jamming, and I looked down at my gauges and noticed my dummy gauge was abnormally low. So I put in one of those dual USB/digital voltmeter things to get a decent reading. Did the same thing on another cold morning and it got down to around 12.1.

Now I know I’ve got the 130a alternator, but I can imagine it’s never been replaced and the brushes are just about worn. I need to do that 150a Sequoia swap but if I can get away with a $5 diode mod, I’m all for it.

 

Yup. Better than rust though. If you take a quick peek at mine, you’d think it’s covered in surface rust. Reality is, it’s covered in grease and a layer of red clay. Scratch through it and my frame looks as good as the day it rolled off the assembly line.

 

I’ve heard of bar and chain oil being used for rust prevention on frames, but not moly grease. Whatever works I guess.

 

Got a link to the part you installed to bump up the voltage?

 

My voltage gauge has always been right in the middle while running (on the 05-06 dash), but it's definitely a little higher now after the mod.

I'd imagine you covered it already, but have you had your battery tested? It's unlikely but possible that may cause your issue.

You can probably get it cheaper at a local junkyard, autozoned, or broreileys if you look around on the internets. This is the part number for that GM diode.

I added a trickle charger and my AGM battery is topping up to 14.3v. I didn't monitor the level closely prior to to adding my push-button voltage meter but a tender makes complete sense for me.

This Greasing/Oiling of the Frame blows peoples minds! Its so revolutionary nobody gets it.

 

Found a picture of my Shaft Yoke portion that I re-did for informational purposes last month. I was seeing that people were having a hard time understanding these results I discuss.

In this top pic you’ll notice how nice and oily and black my shaft appears (greased two years ago). The Yoke Section had some rusty crusty that I greased over. Last month, I cleaned off the grease and sanded the crusty off down to smooth metal. I then reapplied Grease (note the see thru shine!) in the bottom pic.

I’ll post a third picture (later tonight) of a smooth Matte Black Shaft Finish that takes hold after a month of drive time. *Hint: It looks like the rest of the shaft I greased about 2 years ago.
