2001 Blew a belt on highway

    Conclusion: my serpentine idler pulley (16603-0W030) bearing seized. This friction caused my belt to heat up and snap. The End.

    Toyota did. Should be in the FSM and the owners manual. Some items that are frequently brought up here are higher incidence of failure, or catastrophic failure points. LBJ's and Timing belts come to mind. Investigate your owner's manual or search the FSM available on this site.

    just did LBJ’s & Checked Timing Belt. All Good against CATASTROPHIC FAILUREs, just the pesky little failures to worry about... (IE idler pulley bearings)
