that’s probably what the tech at the dealer I go to did

he sort of cringed when I asked if that works need to come off to service the transmission. Lol

Had I known about you and the fact that I wouldn't have to do anything to your skid installed with the Pro plate, I would've chosen yours.

I am trying to make it a priority to make a website this week. I am outside of Houston.
Prices vary depending on material, which plate and thickness

See if you can return the DE or sell it. I am sure someone would buy it. Either way I dont think you can go wrong.

Yeah, from the pics from both DE and VS, it looks like a thief could potentially walk away with the rear cats without removing the plate at all.

But maybe that’s not the case. I haven’t seen it in person yet. I may weld some diamond mesh on the back of my DE skid or make a “fence” out of rebar to weld to it.

The rear cats do not have a lot of the metals that the thieve are after, its the front cats that hold the pot o gold.

VS sells a plate that protects the rear cats. You will have to message Tyler for the prices for steel or aluminum.

i am requesting that someone here, and much smarter that i, correct me...

i believe the "rear cats" being mentioned are actually resonators, and that's why those are being left alone.

my tundra, and my buddies tundra were parked right next to each other on the day mine got stuck to sticky fingers.

they got both my front, and did not even attempt on the "rear cats".

then they moved on to my buddies. they got his front passenger side, and started on the driver side before leaving the scene. they also had zero interest in his "rear cats".

has anyone here had their "rear cats" stolen?

It doesn't extend past the rear crossmember does it? I'm trying to compare this picture to the one in post #343.

It does, if you have a 38 gallon tank, it almost makes it back to it, and it does clear the transfer flow gas tank if you have one

I do have the 38 gallon. For those of us that have the DE skid, are we able to get this "extension" piece to add to it?

Yes, but you will need to drill 2 holes in the DE plate

That looks very interesting. I have the DE skid but I really want/need something that will protect the transfer case. It looks like the back sides of this piece attach to a bracket that goes under the frame and wraps up and mounts through one of the existing bolt holes. Do you know if this will work with any sliders? (I have P&P). If it is possible for this to work with sliders, I have a couple questions about this piece:
    1. What gauge steel do you use for the skids?
    2. Do you have any picts from the back that show how much space there is between the skid and the transfer case?

    Thanks!

    Joel,
On my 2015 pro, it looks like there’s 4 converters. 2 on each exhaust pipe, 1 ea on each side of the rear transmission cross member, is your pro exhaust similar?D1892041-ADC4-465F-916C-2FBA050E6FDE.jpgI’m not sure all 4 are catalytic converters

Some of these low life losers definitely bring a floor jack. Cat got jacked from a back alley neighbours minivan, they got spooked and ran w the cat but left their jack.

Yes all Tundras have the same set up to the muffler. I have the TRD exhaust on my non pro and its the same. I was told the back ones are cats, but they do not hold near as much of the metals that the front cats do.

My dilemma is that the existing RCI transmission skidplate that I have installed allows access to all 4 converters and there’s no practical way to add anything to it for theft protection. Those ones from desert eagle don’t look like they are made to work for the pro, maybe I’m wrong

I sell the transfer case skid in 1/8 steel, 3/16 steel, 3/16 aluminum and 1/4 aluminum. I only consider the thicker ones “skid plates”.

As for the question about space, I remove the “factory skid plate” on the transfer case to install my plate. I add spacers for the 4wd trucks to get about a 1/2” of clearance between the skid plate and the transfer case. Being that I use spacers, it can be increased if so desired. But, with the transfer case being so close to the cross member, it helps with deflection as well.

I added the best picture I have of the spacing but it doesn’t really do it justice. I will try and snap a picture under my truck today that shows it better
