Maybe they'll consolidate manufacturing. But, most of the time brands will just continue manufacturing in separate facilities and upper management changes.
Now if they move Cooper manufacturing into a Goodyear facility or dissolve Cooper entirely, then I'll be looking for other options in 4-5 years.
I will not run a Goodyear tire.

Tires rot in the sun. You'll likely need new ones in 5-7 years even if you don't drive the truck. Camper tires get replaced every 5 years.

Absolutely. I love riding my scoots in Arkansas, but hate how their roads eat tires. And if you think truck tires are expensive, try buying motorcycle tires every 8-10K.

Do you mean “Deegan”? I saw a few posts from those running Deegan 38s. The Deegan 38 AT looks like a decent tire, but it doesn’t come in the size I want.

Yeah, I was interested in getting the Deegan ATs at one point. In fact, I had forgotten I had started a thread asking about them almost 3 years ago:

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/mickey-thompson-deegan-38-a-ts.22722/

And here's another thread about them:

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/new-mickey-thompson-deegan-38s.12087/

Here's a video review from 4WD with them on a Jeep:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgc0h8AGdZw

Unfortunately, not much out there concerning Deegan 38 reviews, at least when compared to Coopers, BFGs, etc.

I gave this tire a negative review but have since changed my mind about them. Plus they have 285/75/18 which I will be switching to soon.

Goodyear buying them UGG... I've had a less than stellar experience with Goodyear. Problems with the car tires, (fast wear and premature sidewall dry-out cracking) and truck tires (sidewall blowouts with low mileage and sidewall dry-out cracking). And the truck tires were lackluster at best when off road in the sand on hard pack we have out here in SoCal. Even the BFGs did better.

Well, looking at the pending recall on over 400,000 tires, I don't see XLTs listed in the few websites that list model/size... Hope it stays that way.

I don't think I have more than 8000 miles on them and can't head out on vacation at this point and leave my 92 year old mom alone. After self isolating for a year now, seeing only me and her Drs, she gets her first shot next Saturday, so I am thinking that in a month or so she should be able to leave the house. Then we can both take off to Arizona and NM. Spring should be a good time to go. So sick of working from home. When I do go in to the university, it's so empty, and the whole floor where I work is like a ghost town. My first shot is today, they are doing edu people now... Overlanding the SW in MAY, cross fingers.

Ok, after reading every single page of this post, and most of the links, I got the Cooper Discoverer AT3 275/65R20. Bought my 2008 Crewmax TRD with 96000 miles. It had the original 18" rims with mud tires (sorry no pics). The drone was too much. I bought a set of take offs (20" Platinum/Limited/1794 rims with 275/55R20 Michelins), installed Bilstein 5100's all around with the front's on the middle setting. Love the Bilsteins! I've gone the spacer route in the past and don't feel they compare to the Bilsteins. Always seemed to get a drone with the Michelins that sounded like it was coming from the front. I thought it was due to the leveling. I ordered the Toytec Diff Drop kit ($31) and the Toytec Driveshaft Carrier Bearing Drop Kit (only $13 more) So after my most recent oil change and being aggravated by the skid plate, I bought the RCI skid plate so I don't have to pull it every time for an oil change. Already have the Fumoto oil pan plug installed.

Sorry for the wandering post, just trying to give some background... Fast forward back to today... Coopers installed, less drone than the Michelin's, power steering seems to almost overcompensate (very easy to turn), definitely "feels" like a harder tire because I can feel road imperfections more, and I think it looks great. Clearances are shown in the pics but please let me know if you have any questions. Clearance on UCA is about "a fingers width." I just can't get over how quiet they are compared to the OE Michelin's.

Numbers at wheel well (I do have some payload in the bed so will update when removed):
    275/55R20:
    Front: 37 1/8"
    Rear: 38 3/8"
    275/65R20:
    Front: 38 3/4"
    Rear: 39 3/4"
    Installed diameter: 33 3/8" at 45 PSI

Just to comment though I see you made your decision... I’d weigh three facts for my decision. And I love rubber and have been following the debates. You’re between two very good options. And the trade offs are obvious to me now. The at3 xlt is a nice road tread that excels everywhere but also is light and not three peak rated in certain sizes.
    1. How much off-road do you do? I feel like the falken will work here every time due to rubber compound and thickness of rubber. If you’re airing down you probably want the Falken’s IMO. If not Cooper it up, think you’ll save an mpg and clock a faster 0-60 with the Cooper.
    2. Do you drive in snow or rain? Three peak rated falken is soft and grippy in the snow and really evacuates rain well. Those squiggle sipes are cray. Tested it a a few times. It’s great. Not sure about Cooper but the sipes are different and the Falken rubber seems softer than normal but wears slow... magicX
3 Cost USA vs South Pacific ... I think falken has really gone up since Covid. The USA tires are becoming the economy option because of special economies.
Sure there are a hundred opinions out there and they are very close. But damn. The stuff I’ve been through in 20+ thousand miles with the falken. Couldn’t convince me I made the wrong choice.
Another question has there ever been a Falken that needed warranty? F that I have heard of a few coopers that wouldn’t balance on here. I haven’t heard of a Falken warranty yet ever. Just saying.

The next great tundra tire is the Firestone XT. It seems like the best of both :monocle: convince me. Glad there aren’t downvotes on this site :)
And when I’m getting 9mpg doing 85mph on the highway with the camper on do I wish I had the lightweight all terrain coopers... yes. That credit card bill is rough when you clock 5k miles in a month on a trip. See y’all in Colorado this June!

Honestly the highway makes me wish for Michelin defenders... so that’s my choice if you’re only minimally off highway and what i would buy if I was looking at the coopers and didn’t have major off highway needs. Those Michelin will surprise you in a lot of situations. :)

My neighbor is a GMC guy and loves his coopers. But he’s a highway house flipper who occasionally has a muddy/rough site. Puts so many miles on the highway. The Cooper makes perfect sense for him. He hated his toyo at2 so that helps his review for sure.
I live in the dank rutted south East so take my review with that grain of salt. My BIL just bought the Cooper from the st maxx so I’ll be interested to see what he thinks. Only rain and super rough asphalt/concrete in Charleston SC daily driving for him.

I went with yokohama geolandar x-at. Its a hybrid of a at and mt and No one was talking about them but so far i am really impressed. I went with a LT tire all under $900. I like to try new tires that come out. When falken wildpeaks came out no one was running them. I actually brought them and installed them on my mother honda pilot . Then when the time came to put them on my the price on the falken shot up.
